Have deleted the first paragraph as it was nicely written and polite but naughty!

In our modern world, and especially in a town like Blackpool with a high number of families under stress who have moved away from their extended families websites such as Mumsnet and others are a vital source of support and I find it sad and concerning that their existence and the notion of free speech is threatened. I myself have used the website to seek advice on everything from discipline issues, tax credits and support through a difficult divorce. Like many others living in Blackpool I have arrived in this town through difficult circumstances both financial and emotional and have little real life support therefore at times Mumsnet has been a source of support through such difficult times.

I know that you yourself have a family and are a keen supporter of community support for families and I hope you agree with me that such virtual support for families can be as useful as a community centre, mother and toddler group or parenting classes. In fact for many people in need a virtual source of support may be less intimidating and more accessible than plucking up the courage to enter a room full of strange women or making a call for help with the telephone.

I hope there is something you can do to help, if only to raise awareness about the importance of free speech and the tremendous support that many women get from online parenting groups.

Do you think booksales of parenting guides have slumped recently then? Because no doubt when this hits the media and people get to hear about the various parenting guides , newbie parents will go out and buy it to see what the fuss is all about. Hence fuelling more money !
