EXCUSE ME - OVER HERE - BRILL IDEA

I would like to suggest a new 'sub topic' on MN.

Have noticed very personal questions that lead to cries of TROLL TROLL and general piss taking and why post a question like that etc etc

Well, for a lot of people, there are things that trouble them that they would be mortified to even try to discuss with rl friends, yet they know they would like to talk with someone. The internet is a wonderful resource, but also it is good to have the opportunity to say - what about this then, is this normal? and get info/advice/support from a bunch of people who don't know you and you don't have to face! so you can talk about those things that worry you anonymously and know they aren't going to discuss it with your other mates!!!

But a lot of people seem to get wound up and go onto such threads to take the piss or to cry troll, or even to say the poster shouldn't have started the thread so wouldn't it be great to have a section called, I don't know, Personal, or something, so everybody knows what kind of advice is likely to be needed and those who dont want to participate in such threads can just not peruse that section!

How about it?

I think this is a great idea, there's lots I'd like to ask but I'd hate to incur the wrath of certain people. This would be ideal instead of posting things in chat or wherever.

I am not having a go at anybody, whats said is said, but a safe place to post personal questions where the assumption is that you are serious would be so helpful, I think.

trolls are inevitable, but they shouldnt be the first thought when somebody posts something personal! A place for personal questions would be helpful, I think. Also with a rule that only advice and info is allowed - no bitching! Which doesnt mean you cant offer constructive criticism, I mean there's nothing wrong with disagreeing! but you shouldnt be mean and rude in that section!!

MTPW: I was one of the pisstakers yesterday and I wish to be publically flogged for it. I don't usually do that, I don't know what came over me. I can't make the world right though and won't be taking that on this afternoon. It is a good idea, I don't know if it would make much of a difference, but I guess it is worth a try. I never change my name and have asked some very personal questions, but not usually to the high standard of wanting to know if my vagina pong is normal.

I like this idea! The sanctimonious on here could stay away from it, if at all possible!

Good idea - I'd be mortified if I changed name to discuss something personal and was accused of being a troll.
