Incidentally,there were quite a few bottlefeeders who objected to the ad,and quite a few breastfeeders who weren't really bothered.

I used to credit you with a little more insight than you obviously have.

I never even saw the ad until it was pointed out that it was there. I'm a strong, confident person, and no ad would make my decision one way or another. I bottlefed DD, but not b/c of pressure from advertisers - she didn't latch well and I had severe PND. I wouldn't have been able to continue bf'ing her had I started b/c I needed some very serious anti-d's, anti-anxiety drugs, hypertension meds, sleeping tablets, etc.

Thanks for noticing FIO It has been building up inside of me!! Toothache if the typos were meant for me, just blame my ignorance then! If they had spellcheck on preview, I guess I would come off a bit more intelligent....

But lots and lots of people did totally miss the point and turn it into breast v bottle, which was not what it was ever intended to be.

It was about the legality of the advert, and the sheer gall of Milupa setting up to offer breastfeeding advice.

This advert and all it means to everyone has pushed a lot of buttons. Olive Oil I respect your position but I also supported TikToks decision to leave after reviewing her posts and looking at the issue. I personally, would never have forced the issue up to Mumsnet Towers as it is just not in my "personality" to do so. I do, however, admire TikTok for doing what she did and making a stand (along with Mears and others). Living in the US, I am not even informed enough to know if this is illegal in the USA. I was not able to breastfeed my daughter, so I have plenty of my own "issues", etc--but I am never one to try to force what I believe onto another.

I felt a bit uncomfortable at the looking up of the "books" of Mumsnet myself, it would not have occurred to me to do thisI don't feel that it is my business (even if it is public record which again, I am too ignorant to be aware of). It was their decision whether they needed the money to survive or notthey are entitled to make money. I also am a paid subscriber and it is difficult for me to believe (as again I am ignorant) that coming forward with $10 a year would be a hardship for all the value that I receive here from the site. Again, I don't want to insult anyone and act like a spoiled brat because I am able to send $10 in and someone really else really cannot afford do that--it is just difficult for me to see this.

I usually do not come forward with strong opinions because I don't want anyone to think badly of me or to shut down any future communication because they view me a certain way. I also think that Batters had a valid point in saying that many other posters contribute a alot to the board, not just the ones that took a position to leave (I don't think she meant to include trolls in this ).

I hope that we can respect each other's feelings with this issue and enjoy the relief that the sneaky bit of advertising will be gone at some point in time soon and that we have clarification that this has nothing to do with bottle fed vs breast fed at all, only to do with the false bit of advertising (illegal actually).
