We've got big concert tonight: "Christmas at ds1's school" It's a performing arts school, and they make a lot of it. Apparently there are 150 students involved.

It seems very well-organised, and there are limited tickets, so at least it shouldn't be mega-crowded.
Ds1 & ds2 are upstairs singing carols and christmas songs and generally getting more and more hyper

I can't wait for the concert, but I'm feeling "end of term tired and weary" already; I'm not sure I've the stamina for a late-ish night!

gah ! have just had to fork out for 2 new pairs of shoes for ds - school & ordinary - he said his feet were a bit sore and they have grown - he's now a 3E which is still quite wee for an 11 yr old

Well done Lisa's DD. I've read your other thread and you deserve to have a proud Mum moment!!! And well done MAS DS on 100% attendance.

DD did a maths test last week and now has gone up a whole level in a term -she's really proud of herself especially since Maths really wasn't her thing in Juniors and did a Science test on Monday which got the I did ok I think reply. Apparently they will be given all their current levels on Friday along with effort grades.

DD has written cards for both her form tutors I was hoping that would suffice!

Ds1 did his German presentation today, and performed very well.

Some of his classmates had used online translators, which produce gobbledigook. One has even managed to use an online translator to produce some words/phrases in French! Even though it is German they've been learning for the past term! ROFL.

I sent in a big tin of chocolates (celebrations) last week. Dh dropped it in to the office, with a card taped to the tin saying "To All Staff at XX School. Thank you for all your hard work. ds1 has settled in incredibly well and loves coming to school."

He also chose to send/write a card to his form tutor.

yep,was thinking that too (being laughed at, if he were to take in gift) Would a card be ok,though ?

Hmmm - my kids go to a jewish school so no chritsmas gifst although we have chanukah at same time. May not be quite same thing but I do think that in secondary its not the done thing. For a start they have umpteen different teaachers ....kids may get laughted at even by other kids.

Hope I'm allowed a proud mummy moment - anyone who begrudges or thinks I'm blrowing my own trumpet etc please see my thread of last week about difficulties of my dd since starting secondary school - anyway.....

Dd has had the first part of her end of term science exam result ( she takes the second part today so fingers crossed for that )and she got a Level 6B!! We are all incredibly proud of her since its the first good result she's got - her interim report averaged Level 4s across the board in all subjects and there were a good sprinkling of Level 3s which was a big shock so this is a great result!!!!

must be a clever class as dd reported quite a few level 7s were achieved too!

DS told me a while ago he was not sending any christmas cards to his form peers. On emptying his bag last night he declared he had received a card from a girl called Carla in his form, so perhaps he had better send some after all. I have had to go out today and purchase some for him.

He is insisting that he will be wearing his scruffiest jeans (they are yukky) to the school disco on Friday afternoon, but little does he know that they will be finding their way into the bin before then.

I used to love having pen friends. I wrote to boy in America for quite some time when I was about 13.

Last week of term, I can't believe how quick it's gone! Yesterday I recieved the ultimate in snoop on your DC - DD's school sent a letter containing a transcript of every thing DD buys in the canteen - they have a swipe card system. DD seems to be rather partial to crumpets at break!

DD made me smile today we were looking at Xmas trees having decided that we'd have an artifical one this year she looked at one with lights on it already attatched and said the only problem with that mum is if it's a single circuit then if one bulb goes then none of them will work and we'll spend ages trying to find out which bulb has blown... Yup DD has been doing circuits in science!
