Parliament Hill / other N London schools for dyslexia/ sen support

Just wondered if anyone had experience of a dyslexic/ anxious/ both (!) DD at Parliament Hill? I’ve heard in general terms that the SEND support is really good but would love to hear of any direct experiences from parents with dyslexic DD there?

CSG and Mary Mags anecdotally sound less good on SEND support (?) we also looked at Clapton Girls which seems excellent for dyslexia but I’m not keen on the journey - and Marylebone which I loved in terms of the arts provision but worry might be too academic and also has a tricky journey. Also Highbury Fields, which is walkable for us but which didn’t seem as creative / arty as I’d like for my art-mad DD.

We have an EHCP now for DD so can look beyond our direct catchment area (previously we’d been considering moving).

Really grateful for any input about any of the schools above, especially re: dyslexia, mental health support, and general pastoral care / vibes.

Have a friend with a dyslexic daughter at Parliament Hill - unfortunately, in her opinion, the SEND support isn't that great. It is just her experience though.

Anecdotally I've heard that Acland Burghley is a lot more supportive of SEND - but on the flipside, I'd rather send my dd to Parli than Burghley whatever the support is like!

I have also, like you, heard that support isn't great at CSG or MM, but it could be because they are so focused on academics. I don't know anything about Clapton Girls.

Thanks for the response- oh no, that's not a good sign! Do you know what her specific concerns are, or whether her DD has an EHCP? I know what you mean about AB! I think they have something like 30 per cent children with SEND so I guess they are pretty hot on it. But I think the calmer all girls environment of Parli (esp with the strong art depts) would suit my DD better.

Hi again. I think she felt that the SEND teacher isn't particularly organised and doesn't do much to support her DD beyond the basics. I think her dd does have an EHCP, yes.

Again, it's just her view. I'd caveat this by saying that my friend's dd does struggle with schoolwork, and that's possibly not purely to do with the dyslexia, so it could be that my friend is projecting her frustrations a bit, if that makes sense?

And all that said, from everything I've heard from local parents, I do think Parli would be a much better choice of school than AB for an arty girl who is prone to anxiety!
