Kent Test 2026

11plus2026 · 03/10/2026 11:23

Let’s discuss the Kent Test 2026, anything from Headteacher’s/parents’ appeal to standardised and raw scores to info on various grammars and catchments, logistics etc.

Remember you can reply to the email you receive on results day to ask for your child’s raw scores.

*bear in mind there may still be others taking the same papers right up until the end of the academic year (eg those that move into Kent at a later date) so no discussions on the actual questions themselves would be appreciated.

Good luck to all!

Hope you have all had the emails - I know my friend who was waiting has had hers and they passed. Results seem to have come out a bit earlier than expected for some!

MumOfBoys26 · 15/10/2026 13:14

We have a pass too. Good luck to anyone still waiting!

newmum1976 · 15/10/2026 12:52

Passed here with a much higher score than expected. Is that the general theme?

Mskagwedemoos · 15/10/2026 12:42

Just got our email as well. My child passed - such a relief!

Fingers crossed for everyone!

Workingsinmom · 15/10/2026 12:40

I’ve received email for my DD.

Good Luck to everyone!

RhubarbAndMustard · 15/10/2026 11:01

Ah you’re right, my apologies. I was told 112 but it was actually 108 in 2022. Should have fact checked first.

What year was that? In the past five years, the individual thresholds have been 106-109.

Internet trawling says 2014 and earlier the aggregate pass mark was 360 with individual floor score at 116. Not sure how different the paper format was but it has been little change from 2015 onwards.

Good luck today everyone. I’d love DS2 to join his brother at Grammar but I’m really not sure how this will go. His brothers pass rate was 112 though so it has been higher in the past.

Do we get the historic distance cut off or score cut off of each school? We live in Orpington and I want to know if we have any chances to Tonbridge or Weald of Kent by distance or score incase if child passed the test

TGS shares their past cutoff scores here: https://www.tgs.kent.sch.uk/_site/data/files/admissions/entry-2027/0F76F5268B1C8627A77D34ACA1E7FA72.pdf

There was an information request a couple of years ago for Weald: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/data_on_outside_catchment_for_ye?unfold=1

It could all be very different this year, though, with the increased threshold as well as the separate Weald Test.

For the 2026 Kent Test, children needed to meet both requirements to receive a grammar school assessment:
Total score: At least 345 out of 423.
Individual scores: At least 111 in each of the three tested areas (English, maths and reasoning).
Each individual score ranges from 69 to 141.
Important: A child scoring 345 or above overall would still not qualify if any individual score was below 111.
Meeting the threshold means a child has been assessed as suitable for grammar school, but it does not automatically guarantee a place at their preferred school. Some grammar schools have additional admissions criteria.

I think this has a lot to do with the English paper... iirc DD told me that it was non fiction this year. IMO it's a good thing because it makes the test fairer sociologically and economically.

But this is probably going to cause havoc for the super selective scores and it's making me super stressed now because we were thinking about targeting TOGS. I'm starting to overthink things now and the FOMO is rising

As someone posted below this year’s cutoff for grammars seems to be 345 with each paper no less than 111. Then depending on the school they may look at distance from school, or even higher pass mark if they are super-selective (eg Skinners, Judd, Tonbridge Girls grammar) - this changes every year and we won’t find out until national offer day in March.

Hi, Does anyone know the pass cut off score of each school in Kent ? How do we find it out? We are targeting the girls schools in Dartford and Seven oaks, Tonbridge area.

Thank you @11plus2026 we needed the solidarity of this chat. I’m manifesting DC will pass, we will be celebrating. Positive thoughts only today.

11plus2026 · 15/10/2026 07:40

Wishing us all the best of luck today. Whatever the outcome, our DCs and us parents and carers I’m sure have worked really hard for this, and this is something to celebrate.

Let the email refreshing begin! 😉

Its going to be a long day!! Thats a massive jump up, im assuming that means the whole cohort did better than previous years then?

Namechangeno500 · 15/10/2026 07:00

Ah just seen it on the website 😏

Namechangeno500 · 15/10/2026 06:58

Oh no where did you find that? Yes stomach churning slightly!

Mskagwedemoos · 15/10/2026 05:42

So, it looks like the rumours were true. That's a big jump up for the pass mark 😬 Now I'm feeling extra stressed this morning!

Oh well. Good luck to everyone with this last bit of waiting. Fingers crossed for your kids!

The Math and Fort Pitt no, Chatham Grammar (29km) and Holcombe (37km) probably yes. Good train links from Swanley, so it would be a fairly gruelling routine for 5-7 years but doable imo

Thank you so much. We did go to Holcombe open day last Saturday and it looked good. Haven't been to Chatham. If tomorrow's outcome is not good, we will be left with a tough choice of comprehensive school in Sevenoaks or grammar in Medway. Both not local and require travel. My brain is exploding))

JustCallMeFrank · 14/10/2026 21:33

ForNewMaker · 14/10/2026 21:16

Congratulations. My son passed Medway too but I don't know if we can realistically get a place in any Medway grammar as we live in Swanley and are out of Borough. Does anyone know?

Thanks for this link. I’ve just logged in and chose my DD’s name and it says “The selected child listed below has an address that is outside of Kent County Council's area. To make a school application you will need to contact your own home Local Authority.”

Is anyone else getting similar? We live in KCC area.

When I go to apply I get page 3 (out of 8) 'Select round' and I have one choice which is 'Secondary Transfer (yr7) For Sept 2027 Intake - Applications
02/11/2026 23:59'

So it seems OK for me.Is it possible that there's a typo on the postcode?
