Last year there was a very helpful thread discussing the Sutton grammar schools. Results of round 1 coming out tonight according to the old thread's timelines!
Would be helpful to know what everyone gets once you know! They seem to come out in batches too.

As mum of 2 OOC girls I’ve always found the girls’ school catchment method benefitting the in catchment girls a lot. I wish they would do it the other way round like the boys I.e. in catchment first then the open list.

Yes, obviously the Sutton girls' schools intend to take a majority of local girls, whereas the Sutton boys' schools don't mind taking a larger proportion of top-scoring boys regardless of where they live. But in my view, Tiffin Girls' has the best approach. They first establish a large catchment (designated area), divide it into a small inner area and an outer section, and then apply a priority mechanism similar to the Sutton boys' schools by allocating up to one third places to the inner area first. This strikes a great balance by maximizing the number of local girls admitted while still maintaining reasonable regional access.

The weighting is the same but the pass mark isn't. For out of catchment applicants, I'd imagine Wallington will probably have a slightly lower pass mark than Sutton (for in-catchment applicants they may be very similar, given the larger number of catchment places at Sutton).

Thank you, that makes sense!

Good luck to all children and parents today. Very very nervous.

Looking through older forums, some children don’t get into Sutton but get into wallington. Is the weighting/pass mark not the same? How is this possible?

I think most people rank Sutton Grammar over Wallington and Sutton Grammar has a higher pass mark I believe (even if the weughting is the same).

if its any help - last year the results came out between midday and 2pm on the Thursday so no late night waiting. and im sure everyone knows this but I cant stress enough, just because you pass does not guarantee an offer. unfortunately someone on another forum had a son who passed all 3 schools and didnt get an offer from any in March.

This is helpful! Not sure I’ll be able to stomach lunch tomorrow…..

From what I can gather the catchment places don’t make a great deal of difference for the boys - certainly not for the 15 WCGS places. Even at SGS, because they rank the catchment candidates first to allocate places, then the OOC candidates, it means you’ve still only really got one bite of the cherry (as if you haven’t ranked highly enough for one of the 75 catchment places, it’s unlikely you’ll have done so for one of the out of catchment ones). That’s very different to how the girls schools do it - they rank everyone by score first for the open places, then do so the catchment ones, so if you’re in catchment you really do get two opportunities.

Thank you. I know I saw a thread talking about places and allocations from this year but I cannot find it.

How do the results come out? Do we get emails from each school saying if they’ve been accepted or not? And I guess similarly for March 1st too?

As PP have said, you will emails from each school saying if your DS has passed. You then fill in your CAF with your preference order of schools. In 1st March you will only get 1 offer, the highest ranked school on your CAF.

KeerthiAaramum · 12/10/2026 09:43

When can we expect the results for Nonsuch and wallington stage 2 results?

They should be the same day as the boys schools - possibly Thursday this week. We need the results before half term in order to apply, and this Friday is the last day of term for the schools. (They have a 2 week half term).

trying29 · 12/10/2026 09:45

In March you find out through the National eadmissions service

trying29 · 12/10/2026 09:44

You only get the results if your son doesn’t pass for that particular school. Each school sends separate emails. They will also say how many boys they have passed - eg for Sutton last year they said my son passed and they passed 900 boys (approx)

Btw it's not an acceptance email, it's an email to say whether they have reached the score or not. Then you can put the school in your caf (or not)

OP posts:
SixSevenSkibidi · 12/10/2026 09:41

The Wilsons hand out says 16 October but agree that last year's thread seemed to mention Thursday.
I think it's an email for each school, not sure if they send scores.

The last couple of years it’s been the Thursday this week early afternoon. Half term starts after Friday and results come out before half term

When are we expecting the Stage 2 results this week?
