Anyone knows when the SET result for Sutton schools will be out. Many children said exam was easy. I wonder how many will get through the first round and how hard will be the second stage

Travelmad777 · 27/09/2025 20:48

It is quality over quantity and did they address the task given.

Mine wrote 1 2/3 page today. I think anywhere between 1 1/4 to 2 is acceptable.

Thank you..Mine wrote a page and a quarter and it really freaked me out..So just wanted to understand What it meant!

Hi,
Can anyone help me understand how much writing is usually expected for the Girls’ Sutton Stage 2 creative writing task? Would about one page, a page and a quarter, or a page and a half be enough? If anyone has a daughter who has taken the test in previous years or this year, I’d really appreciate your guidance. Thanks in anticipation!

@Susanforarthur without saying too much, I’ll say it was easier than EPP, which I know doesn’t say much but staying a bit cognizant of late sitters. Please DM mean and happy to share more.

Dontknowmuchanymore · 27/09/2025 16:02

I don’t think it can be discussed yet as there may be late sitters. In any case it’s finally done and onto the next!

How did people find stage2? Is it safe to discuss - is everyone done?

How did it go? Did you daughter find it easy?

Susanforarthur · 27/09/2025 15:37

My son is taking the stage 2 exams next Sat 4 Oct. Based on last year’s timeline, I assume the results will be out on 16 Oct Thursday.

The cutoff scores for the last couple of years have been boys - 210 and girls - 206. They do not differentiate between English and Maths and do not disclose marks(which would vary year on year) only combined standardised score.

Thank you very much for the information. It helps a lot.

Sportie7 · 25/09/2025 21:37

Sorry boys should read 212

Hi there.

I’ve been looking into the admissions data for Greenshaw High School’s 60 ability places over the past few years. From what I could find, the lowest scores for offers were generally in the range of 209 to 211.

Interestingly, this range seems quite close to the cut-off scores usually required in the SET Stage 1 for progressing to Stage 2. Therefore, would it be fair to say that if a child meets the Stage 2 eligibility standard, they also stand a good chance (probabilistically speaking, acknowledging that it varies year by year) of being in contention for one of Greenshaw’s 60 places?

Also, would anyone be able to share what the minimum total score for stage 1 was this year (for girls’ grammar schools), and what the individual cut-off marks for English and Maths were?

Many thanks in advance! 🙏

It means you are able to apply for one of the 60 selective places at Greenshaw High School.

Roughly based on prior years, but can't remember 100%

Above 210-212 - Invited for second round
200-210 - Pass for Greenshaw selective places

You can apply for Greenshaw in your CAF but you are not guaranteed a seat. Based on how others who have passed SET place other schools and Greenshaw will determine who bags those 60 seats.

Many moons ago my older DD got WL at the girls’ grammars and Greenshaw. She eventually got a grammar place but never got Greenshaw! It was a mystery how the WL moved in such a way.

Kaviya · 23/09/2025 22:14

@Sportie7 thank you so much 😊

We are pleased to inform you that X has achieved a score in the Selective Eligibility that enables her to be considered for one of the 60 selective places available at Greenshaw High School.

What is that mean ?

Anyone got same thing ?

Did you apply via Wilson’s website for SET?

Yes. He got:
English standardised score: 89.35
Maths standardised score: 106.24
Total score: 195.59

Suggest to me he didn't do well in English? But no idea!

Daddykl · 23/09/2025 21:58

👍

Susanforarthur · 23/09/2025 21:48

My son passed! Such a relief!

penguinumbrella · 23/09/2025 21:42

Got ours and it's not a pass. 195 with 210 being the cut off for Wilson's. Anyone know if it should be an even split for the results (IE 105 per test?) to get to the 210?

Sillysallysausage · 23/09/2025 21:43

I just got boys results now. Didn't make it unfortunately. Scored 199.55. needed 210 for Wilson's. Bit disappointed but not devastated
So boys results are on their way
