Does anyone know when the results and boundaries get announced? How was this year’s paper in comparison to previous years?

DD sat it and thought some of them were quite hard so had to guess them, but she hasn’t done much of the past papers so doesn’t have much to compare against.

any insights would be very much appreciated.

DS12 did the Olympiad last year and got a merit….
…..found out this morning he’s only gone and got himself a gold medal!!! One more year of JMC/JMO next year.
I’m amazed! And so delighted for him.
He really loves maths and spends a lot of his free time doing puzzles and problems, but he didn’t do any formal preparation or any courses. He just really adores the subject.

I remember seeing this on mobile, had no pword and forgot to reply. That's amazing, well done!

My DD got merit yr7 and a higher scoring merit yr8.

But if he's operating at that level then imho he should also take IMC in yr8. My DD did and Cayley qualified, and the 2026 paper was awful.

...and then try SMC yr9. My DD is gonna take it. Don't get into thinking that it's all about advance level theory, it isn't. Most of it is just harder problems.

Bronze in the JMO means he placed in the top100-200. Top 40 is gold and next 60 is silver.

If Bronze in the Kangaroo Round then it means he is in the top 50% of all people who qualified for the Kangaroo Round, which is top 6% (approx) of all test takers who took the JMC.

Thank you that’s great. Well done DS! And all who took part

Where can we find this please?

Thank you!

In the Marker’s Report it mentions that for Question 3 - The question was marked by 12 markers who spent much time writing comments in the hope they would help candidates improve as mathematicians in any future problems. We urge all students to read the comments and reattempt the question if the comments spurred them to any extra thoughts.

My DC’s school have said their was no feedback from UKMT just the mark breakdown per question. Does anyone know if you do get feedback and whether the schools should already have it or if it gets sent at a later date? Thanks so much.

Your school would have received for each JMO participant a userid and password which can be used to retrieve scans of the participant's script. Ask them for the userid and password.

Congratulations Rosalind1982, what an amazing achievement for your DS!

I was wondering does anyone have any idea when the Marker’s Report might be out for the JMO 2026? Thanks!

That’s amazing news - congratulations to your son!! You must be so proud. We haven’t had DD’s back yet.

Thank you! He doesn’t know yet, I think they’ll tell them later in the week.

We dont have results yet either. In honesty DC's school isn't really very on it so haven't a clue when they are likely to get result back. DC doesn't think they did very well anyway!

Rosalind1982 · 29/06/2026 21:42

How did everyone do? We don’t have results yet from school

CandidAnt · 29/06/2026 12:34

JMO results are out

Didyousaynutella · 19/06/2026 22:45

y son did this and still haven’t had any results. I suspect it’s just the school being crap. But annoying when I put the time in fighting him to do the zooms.

My dc took olympiad this year and thought it was harder than last years paper which theyd looked at to try and get a sense of what questions are like. They've never done anything like it before and his school didn't know much about it either so no help to prepare was on offer.
DC managed to answer 4 questions and part of a 5th but was only really confident of 3 of the solutions and to be honest has no idea if how they presented their answers was the style the markers look for. Will be really interested to see how they do as really haven't a clue whether they are likely to score 5, or 35!

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for results to be released?

JMO scripts are being marked this weekend so it should be available next week or the week after. Last year, results were sent out on 30/6.

School confirm DS got 135/135 in the Junior Kangaroo!
Nice way to finish his last time (being y8)
I'm just pleased he has learned to check his answers as he told me he did and changed one.

wow, well-done to your DS.

My DD had a look at the solutions and after her initial optimism post exam its been dampened a fair bit. She thinks she has at least 2 full solutions but after that it's a bit hit and miss. Looks like she'll probably end up with a merit like last year.

She seemed a little disappointed but I think just taking the exam is great for her, something most kids will never experience.

Thresholds for Junior Kangaroo are out as of 5pm. Ergo all entries have been marked.
Astonishingly quick, 2 days after deadline!
I hope school gives them out tomorrow as DS convinced he's aced it
