Also, the annual NPL Water Rocket Challenge is good fun: https://www.npl.co.uk/water-rockets

Water rockets

The NPL Water Rockets Challenge is a great day out which sees teams create their own amazing water rockets, from school teams to adult enthusiasts and youth groups as well as water rocket-making workshops.

@Curtainpots was it specifically competitions you were interested in, or courses/events too? If the latter, then it's worth signing up to the Royal Institution mailing list. They do some good activities for childrenwithin commuting distance of central London.

Thank you. I’ve signed up for the crest awards but they look quite complicated to manage from home. Less into the maths /coding side but I’ll show him.
I’ve found a British science week poster competition butt that’s not open until next year.

Depends on your definition of science ... we did the National Cipher Challenge with my DS at that age, but it's maths/coding rather than pure science: https://www.cipherchallenge.org/

That makes it much harder, you could do the CREST awards, where the kids do projects and enter them for different levels https://www.crestawards.org/

CREST Awards

CREST is the British Science Association's scheme for STEM project work that inspires young people to think and behave like scientists and engineers. Start yours now!
