Bromley waiting list

Hi

Looking for experiences on the Bromley waiting lists, they have said they won’t tell us our position, nor will they start offering places until mid-April. Anyone have any experience of this? Do they really wait that long or is it just a ruse to stop you calling them at the start?

I know other London boroughs where they have already been told their position on the list.

thanks!

@Elim81 were applying at the moment for my son. Would you be willing to share thoughts on ravenswood? My son is autistic and adhd so wanting to make sure it’s somewhere that will work for him.

Hi. My son goes to Ravensbourne now and is loving it, best decision to move him there. I'll be honest he has friends at Ravenswood and all I hear is really negative things however I'm sure there are a lot that are doing well also. Ravensbourne I'm more than happy with.

Any feedback on sen support from BullersWood Boys please ?

Purpletoes · 29/04/2026 13:03

Thats great news @Bromley12. We are still waiting on grammar school drift down as well. Fingers crossed. My DS is Y9 at Beths and loves it. It has the right balance of sports fun and work
Also the choices they have for GCSE are brilliant and diverse

Hi everyone

Just to let you know we got offered for Bullers Wood boys today ☺️.

We are on still on waiting list for few Grammar schools, but we are happy with this school too.

Possible to go down the waiting list if someone higher up the priority applies as a late applicant (looked after child ehcp etc).

Hmm.. interesting 🙄

Kent gives 2 weeks to accept places. They then have to tell Bromley who process in batches. You will need to wait a little longer for the waiting lists to start moving as places are not freed up until places at new schools are accepted by families.

Ah ok, makes sense 👍

mugboat · 27/04/2026 21:04

you will deffo get a place, I'm sorry you're in limbo, so annoying for you.

Yes, I spoke to them today, still position number 1.. . I would have thought after kent 2nd round of offers there would be some movement.🤔

Hi

We still haven't heard anything from Bromley Council inspite of being on waiting list position 1 for last 3 weeks for BullersWood Boys school, any idea ?

I dint think the Kent reallocation has happened yet. Usually the super selectives reoffer and this starts a cascade of moves that also affect Bromley.
Apparently Bromley work in batches so may take a while. Last year they were so slow that a lot of kids missed the transition days

Hi @LostMySocks Thank you, yes kent reallocation is happening on 23rd April... hopefully that will have some impact for bromley 🤞.

I think you'll get a place. I was 16th on the list for Bullers Girls and got a place in June. I think you'll get an email offering a place this month!

@mugboat thank you 😊

My son is on Waiting list number : 1 for Bullers Boys since last Friday, Council said the school is full, what does that mean ? Will there be no movement further ?

My son is at Ravens Wood now in year 10 if you have any questions. There are lots of bands and ensembles for music and the standard BYMT teachers coming in.
We found when we were on waiting list for LPSB we started off at 50 and actually moved down the list - presumably people moving into the area? We ended up at 100 and something!
I am afraid I do not have any experience of the Hayes waiting list but the Bullers ones normally have quite a bit of movement and I would say at 6 you have a good chance of a place in one of the shakedowns.

@HerderofDragons Nice to hear. Thank you.

SydneyCarton · 09/04/2026 20:30

@Lkt32 Wow, that was quick! We were 6th for Bullers Girls this time last year but didn’t get an offer until May half term. We were in a similar position for Chislehurst as well.

Ravenswood is very good for music. It's less talked about than the sport but has lots of groups. They have some sort of programme for talented musicians in the 6th Form.
Even if your son doesn't want to do music at GCSE or ALevel the focus means that there is something for the more casual players.

Hi @mugboat thank you, yes at present my son attends classes at school via BYMT. I was checking if any schools in Bromley focuses more on music compared to other schools...
