Hi, Does anyone know the format of the CLSB exam? Roughly when you drop off/pick up etc? Two weeks to go and there's still no info. I'm wondering if I can fit it around work/work remotely somewhere nearby etc. We're doing 10+ but I imagine it's similar to the 11+.

My DS has been offered a reserve place for CLS 10+. Does anyone know what the chances of placement?

drizzledon · 13/01/2023 14:44

It seemed to go ok, he was smiling afterwards, hopefully a good sign!

DS said it was good but I think he was very stressed out and didn't do very well... It was very short, just over 10 minutes. Not sure what it means.
Now it's a waiting game...

How have the interviews gone for everyone so far?

MissScotland · 10/01/2023 13:20

Agreed. I don't know how they are tackling this to be honest. It's the first time I've heard about this issue.

I did wonder how the junior school would manage taking on 2 classes if yr 6 boys given they’ll have an existing co-ed cohort. Do they limit the No of boys that can join prior to that point or do they end up with boys massively over-represented in the final year of primary? It would be good if City of London Girls took the same approach as boys so that they could continue with a 50:50 class makeup on year 6 but if they’re already struggling for space that doesn’t sound like an option. I have to say I was disappointed when I heard yr 6 will be starting at the junior school rather than in one go at the senior school site

Just had a chat with a fellow mum of a 10+ applicant. She heard from another friend that the CLS junior school is oversubscribed at the moment with space issues and even difficulty running open days. This is where the boys will spend the first year (y6) before moving up to the senior school.
She also mentioned that there are fewer applicants at 7+ due to this problem.
Is anyone aware of this?

drizzledon · 09/01/2023 11:21

That’s good to know! Hopefully it will work in our favour. Just looking forward to having it over and done with now!

That's really positive news. Fingers crossed for everyone!

MissScotland · 09/01/2023 10:39

Thanks ladies. Ours is this Thursday.
I had a chat with a representative from City at a senior school night held at our school, and she too said that the short list for the interview is very short. I hope we all get in! :-)

drizzledon · 09/01/2023 09:47

Ours is this week...

From past threads I got the feeling that City don't interview too much in excess of the numbers they plan to offer to or put on the waiting list.

Happy New Year! Ours is first thing next monday morning. I'll let you know how it goes. I know what you mean about feeling anxious about it.

Does anyone know what the chance of getting in is if they've got an interview? Is it just a case of checking whether they are suitable for the school and most kids get a place, or is it another way to whittle down the kids significantly?

MissScotland · 09/01/2023 08:46

Hi everyone and happy 2023!
Just wondering if anyone has had the interview already...? Getting a bit anxious here :-)

MissScotland · 20/12/2022 20:42

Thanks guys, same here. Booked our slot.

drizzledon · 20/12/2022 18:40

We’ve had an email too for 10+

drizzledon · 20/12/2022 12:06

We've not heard anything yet

Hi, has anyone heard from them re the 10+ interview? Mainly in terms of wether it'll be there or online?

crazymama123 · 19/12/2022 15:39

i asked about the 11+ so i'm not sure about the 10+ i'm afraid.

Gabbyflora · 19/12/2022 15:25

Thanks a lot for the update @ crazymama123

drizzledon · 19/12/2022 14:51

Is that for 11+ only or also for 10+, do you know?

OP posts:
crazymama123 · 19/12/2022 14:12

I emailed the school today to enquire about when we would hear about the interview dates for 11+and they said that there has been a delay and they will be sending out the interview invites tomorrow (on Tuesday 19th).

HotSauceNow · 19/12/2022 12:40

If your question is have we been sent an 11+ interview slot for w/c 16 January then no we haven’t.

Gabbyflora · 19/12/2022 11:32

I've got the one you just sent. This was sent prior to that:
The next stage of selection will consist of further written papers in Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, to be sat at the School next Wednesday (14 December) and an interview in mid-January (which may be conducted virtually).

Details regarding timings for the reasoning papers will be sent to you by email later today; details regarding timings of and arrangements for the interviews will be sent to you by email by the end of next week (Friday 16 December).

HotSauceNow · 19/12/2022 11:15

This is what CLS said before so I wouldn’t expect any news (apart from being told an interview slot) until Feb. Have you seen something else?

“Shortlisted candidates will be invited to CLS to sit further written papers in Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning on Wednesday 14 December; they will also be invited for an interview which will take place online (likely during week commencing 16 January).
Parents of shortlisted candidates will be notified about the final result of their child’s application by email on Friday 10 February and all replies are required by 9am on Friday 3 March.”
