Hi my daughter is going into year 11, she wants to change her first name by deed poll she has always disliked it, i said she has to wait until shes 16 and can do it without our permission, thats in november, now im worried will this cause problems with her gcses, or should i change it for her now befire they go back to school?, i dont want her to change it at all, but she will in a couple of months regardless, thanks for reading

It doesn't have an impact on her GCSEs. Her entries will be made in February so as long as its changed and on the school system by then, she will have her new name on her certificates.

change it now, and get her adult name on her GCSE certificates, its a pita if she doesn't

Makes little difference really. I changed my first name at 21, I just provide my deed poll as well if anyone queries it on asking for my gcse/ a level / etc certificates. As long as she has the paper trail she'll be fine.

I’d change it now if she wants to and is going to anyway.
