WELCOME TO PART 3!!

Previously…

PART 1 started by Oceane11plus in July 2020 for the SW London Girl’s 11+ 2021 cohort (pandemic year).
PART 2 continued the journey (exam pandemic panic).

Both Part 1 & 2 quickly reached the MN quota of 1000 posts!

Will PART 3 be our final episode? Keep supportively posting as we make our final decisions on offers, WL movement & starting Year 7 (hopefully post-pandemic)...

Morning all, anyone have any updates on the WL for Reeds and KGS? We are still waiting for a response from these schools - this is such a stressful process!

Stircrazyschoolmum · 04/03/2021 10:10

@troubled sorry to hear you are still waiting. Which 2 schools is it? Perhaps folk on the thread can let you know if they hear of someone letting something go so you can jump straight on the phone.. do you know where you are on the waitlist for each?

Fingers crossed for you and @Iamsodone

xx

Tr0ubled · 04/03/2021 08:59

We’ve accepted another school but it was our 3rd choice. Still on WL for other 2 and would sacrifice deposit if offered.

Iamsodone · 04/03/2021 08:01

Thanks !
Have you now accepted a school yourself ?

I don’t think the 14 days cooling off period applies to all and every single school deposits, I think it is only if the actual contract terms stipulates it.
Can someone shed some light though ? It would be interesting to know

Tr0ubled · 04/03/2021 07:46

@Iamsodone

Would anyone have input on the Alleyn’s waiting list ?
I received an email from them on Monday saying they were still waiting on a lot of offer responses and they were unlikely to have any more information until Thursday (today!!) I think tomorrow is their actual offer deadline so could still not hear until then I suppose.

Congratulations to all offers and decisions! What a day today!

Jojogabor · 03/03/2021 21:37

Well done to all your lovely DDs for getting offers!! And all the very best to all still waiting. Whatever happens, I’m sure it will all work out in the end.

We are off to G&L - so @Scorpio1980 @indimum @PatoPato @Pkompel, see you there :)

HeliK · 03/03/2021 21:26

Thanks @Starrynight7.

Good Luck @Tr0ubled with your WL.

ProfessorPootle · 03/03/2021 18:48
@southwestlondonmum You should have a 14 day cooling off period if the offer and acceptance were both made via post/email. It specifically states in the t and c’s of my DC’s current school that the acceptance deposit is refundable if the contract is made by post/email and cancelled within 14 days. As a consumer, you have a right to cancel services under the Consumer Contract Regulations in the same way that you do when you buy goods online.
Agree, our terms and conditions specifically state this, this is part of the distance selling regulations.

@Tr0ubled I think some schools have moved on WL as their deadlines for first offer acceptances were earlier. The school we were waiting on had an acceptance deadline of 4pm Monday, before LA schools even came out in this area (we got our email 8.30pm). We got a phone call 8am Tuesday with an offer from WL.

Teacakes100 · 03/03/2021 18:31

@southwestlondonmum please check that they are not going to bill you the first terms fees and it is only the deposit that is lost. We had to at a very very sort after school a few years back for an older DC.

Congratulations to you all on offers and decisions. I just jumped over from the boys 11+ chat...

indimum · 03/03/2021 18:15

Congratulations to all the DDs who have got and accepted offers. Hope they and families can now relax and enjoy bit more fun in the sun🙂 Those waiting for offers , fingers crossed for you.
We had email from WHS that they have now filled all places. We had actually told them already that we had accepted offer elsewhere. They have said for those rally interested they will hold a small WL for summer.
I am glad we have settled, and DD looking forward to joining G&L.
Scorpio 1980 . PatoPato , Pkompel, i will PM you. Good luck all 🎉🎉🥂😇

Trialsat11 · 03/03/2021 17:44

@Mimijoyx there are a lot of girls who move from WHS to KCS at sixth form which has IB
We know quite a few parents with DD's at the school and it has always had an image of a very nurturing as well as academic school
@Flossietea yes WHS was always our first choice because of the location and continued friendships :-)

Mimijoyx · 03/03/2021 17:29

@Skatingpark97 Yes! After a long sleepless night and a crazy morning we did accept it and paid the deposit. It is very difficult indeed to be sure without having visited the school. Will go back and read all posts about Wimbledon High in the following days :)) So far, everything points to positive vibes. For a long time, we were favouring IB education for our daughter and that was our biggest dilemma.
( we had an international IB option as well as Surbiton and Woldingham offer)

Then we thought she can always go for IB in sixth form if she would want to.

@Tr0ubled

Argh we’re still waiting on WL!! Have received emails from schools saying will either hear by tomorrow or Friday. Wish it was all just done now. One school says they cannot offer WL until actual offer deadline has passed, which makes sense but then how do other schools manage it?!

Congrats to those who’ve now been able to make their choices.

Troubled fingers crossed you hear soon

Really feel for you plus I think you have same school on list as one of them

Flossietea · 03/03/2021 17:28

@trialsat11 congrats on WHS! I know that was always your first choice! Great news. Hope you got the deposit money back from LEH!

Skatingpark97 · 03/03/2021 17:13

@Mimijoyx , did you accept WH?

Trialsat11 · 03/03/2021 16:59

@TrOubled it is true that the offers come very near to the deadline as the school has a clear view on their acceptances and they don't want to risk a bulge class by offering beforehand to waitlist..
We received one offer after the deadline and another just 30 min before the deadline .

Starrynight7 · 03/03/2021 16:46

Fingers crossed for you HeliK we released our offer today.

HeliK · 03/03/2021 16:40

Congratulations to all who accepted the offers and congratulations who got offers from WL. I have recently started following this thread and it is very useful. We are still waiting for JAGs WL to move. Finger crossed.

Pkompel · 03/03/2021 16:31

Congratulations @Scorpio1980 and @PatoPato. We have also accepted G&L and eagerly waiting for the next steps on the journey to commence. 🙂

Trialsat11 · 03/03/2021 16:13

@bringmesun I agree and that is the reason we accepted WHS which is walking distance for us which meant DD would be very independent and can walk to early morning sports fixtures and drama practice while we can attend to her younger sister who starts school next year
@southwestlondonmum see you in September
LEHer's sorry we wouldn't be joining in but LEH is a fabulous school and it was a hard choice giving it up

Bringmesun · 03/03/2021 15:02

@Trialsat11 I know you have thought about this but from personal experience please don’t underestimate the commute. One of my DC relies on school bus and to be totally honest it’s painful, not to mention the expense of it too. And there is an extra charge for the late bus too (pretty sure LEH also charge extra) Makes it so much harder to accept last minute school Activities and means that if DC is slightly late arriving back to school from a match I have a 50 minutes drive to the school and a 50 minutes drive back home. This happens at least once a week (well not now clearly!!) Also means that my husband and I end up attending less school social events because it’s such a pain to get to... just something I wish someone had told me!
