3 miles away in London. I took the tube or bus plus a long walk. It took about 45 minutes.

CapturedFairy · 30/09/2019 20:10

Just over 5 miles, no school bus but free bus pass.

Took 2 buses and over an hour to get there. I hated it. Was chosen due to my parents' religion.

In comparison my DCs secondary is just over a mile away.

WhatHaveIFound · 30/09/2019 09:07

I had a 15 minute walk as it was about a mile away but with a hill in the middle.

By comparison it would take DS 90 minutes to walk to his hgh school and DD's walk would be 5 and a half hours!

Rachelover60 · 30/09/2019 02:25

Not far, I could walk there. That wasn't the reason the school was chosen for me but it was something of a bonus.

monkeytennis97 · 30/09/2019 01:38

20-30 minute walk. Probably about 2 miles or so.

BitOfFun · 30/09/2019 01:26

Same as you, Megz- about 15 minutes walk.i used to call for a friend on the way, and if there was time, go in for a cup of tea.

Zinnia · 30/09/2019 01:15

12 miles, about 30-40 mins by car + tube. Hated the journey, despite being in the "train gang". DD is now going 11 miles by school coach and I'm reliving it all again!

NancyJoan · 29/09/2019 22:01

I was a boarder, so no minutes walk. A 50 min drive to my Mum’s house, though.

Darbs76 · 29/09/2019 21:58

7/8 minutes walk

backouch · 28/09/2019 21:12

20 minutes on the bus.

elliejjtiny · 28/09/2019 16:52

1 mile. 5-10 mins in the car, 20 minutes running or 30 minutes walking slowly with my friend and chatting.

Ds1 and ds2's school is 2 miles away.

FlyingTaxis · 28/09/2019 16:45

5,800 miles give or take. But I boarded.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/09/2019 13:14

About a mile and a half in the next town. First day of school noone bothered to collect me and I ended up waking the wrong direction home and ended up bloody miles away.

What were my parents thinking???

usernamexox · 28/09/2019 13:11

6 miles -2 buses spent about 45mins altogether on the 2 buses but could be up to 30 mins waiting. Girls Grammar school.

TateWorm · 28/09/2019 12:59

About a 20 minute walk. It was the closest to our home, the only other one here would have taken a good hour to walk to.

CleopatrasBookWorm · 28/09/2019 12:52

3-5 min walk. I basically lived across the road and found it embarrassing lol.

sanityisamyth · 28/09/2019 12:47

40 mins on the bus.

TowerRingInferno · 28/09/2019 12:42

10 miles - 20 min walk then a 30-45 min bus ride.

Nearest schools were sink schools at the time.

Alexandrite · 28/09/2019 08:10

30 min walk. Same as my children, except my children have to walk uphill on the way there

Milicentbystander72 · 27/09/2019 22:29

About 5 miles. A school in North Wales so it was a large catchment area.

I now live in the South West of England and my dcs school is 3 miles as the crow flies. Some old primary parents seemed to think it was outrageous that I'd picked this school because every normal child must be able to walk to school. Apparently 🙄

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 27/09/2019 22:23

First school was 0.5 miles. About 10 minute walk. After one year I changed to a school 5 miles away. Was about 20 minutes on the school bus.

OhTheRoses · 27/09/2019 22:21

I don't know how many miles but 15 min brisk walk to station, 20 mins on train, 10 to 15 mins walk at other end. Left house at 7.50, arrived school at 8.45.

Namechangewho · 27/09/2019 22:17

45 minute walk away, there was a bus however, I always seemed to miss it

SecretNutellaFix · 27/09/2019 20:16

Between a mile/ mile and a half depending on if the shortcut was usable that day. Never took me longer than 25 minutes to get there. Unless I stopped to fuss local dogs and cats.

mamapants · 27/09/2019 20:07

5 miles, about 30 mins on the bus with the various stops.
We live 1.4 miles from a secondary school now.
