Uniform Blazer pocket doesnt fit logo badge

Faultymain5 · 01/09/2019 17:46

Where should I sew it.

DH suggested opposite side of the pocket (where there is no pocket).
I'm thinking one of the lower pockets where the badge does fit.

It just needs the badge on the blazer, the notes do not specify where, but it really doesnt fit the top blazer pocket where it would normally go.

Tbh actually looking again at the photos, it's going to look bloody shit whatever you did with it...

Unless you got the official one

Still can't believe this 😂😂

MudDog · 01/09/2019 18:44

Please don't sew it somewhere random like on the other side or lower. Fit it on that side somehow or remove the pocket and sew it there making a fake pocket somehow.

Seriously the hassle dd had because we got dds tie from shop two of the two authorised and allowed uniform shops as shop two was nearer for us when nearly every other child got it from shop one and therefore the stripe on dds was very very slightly a different colour was ridiculous.

You can't sew it lower. They will be eaten alive.

SparklyMagpie · 01/09/2019 18:42

I would be mortified if my mum would have done this when I was at high school!!

I can't believe you're not arsed about what you're setting your daughter up for

And I'm sorry but thinking about the logo on the bottom pocket 😂😂😂😂 that's what makes me think you're having us on

Poor girl

crisscrosscranky · 01/09/2019 18:40

I suspect this will continue to fall on deaf ears but you should just buy the school blazer. I was the kid who had a mum that liked to save a few quid (literally sometimes just a few pounds) rather than buying the things everyone else had; I wasn't bullied for it but I still felt like the odd one out.

WitchDancer · 01/09/2019 18:40

I would sew it over the pocket - line up the top edge of the badge with the top edge of the pocket to avoid a gap

PerspicaciaTick · 01/09/2019 18:39

She won't be sitting in class at all, she'll be in isolation for wearing incorrect uniform.

Frouby · 01/09/2019 18:37

I can totally see your point re the blazer. Dds is a funny colour or I would definetly have bought one from M and S or similar. It's as plasticy and shiny as a crisp packet (the school shop one) and is cheap and nasty looking.

Just sew the badge over the pocket, leave the top of the pocket open. It will be fine.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 01/09/2019 18:37

Please buy the standard one. The fact that you think it's bad quality doesn't really come into it.

MidweekObscurity · 01/09/2019 18:37

I would:
search Facebook to see if there's any parent groups to ask on.

Google the school to see if there's any group photos come up that may give you an idea.

See if the school has an Instagram account

Check all parts of school website like prize giving for more blazer photos.

Good luck hope you can get it sorted

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 01/09/2019 18:36

Gosh why are people being so rude?

Because I'm the kid who had the piss ripped out of her on a daily basis because her mother put her in "good quality clothes" instead of what everyone else was wearing.

I did not have a happy school life during those times.

Hiredandsqueak · 01/09/2019 18:34

Honestly your dd will be far happier in the poor quality blazer that every other child is wearing than in an M&S one no matter what the quality. It is social suicide to have something different in year seven and even if you relent a few weeks in when the poor child has been mocked it won't be forgotten. Don't do it to your daughter.

Thehagonthehill · 01/09/2019 18:34

My DD had an M&S blazer(not compulsory but she wanted one)We never got around to putting the logo on.No one ever said anything and it didn't stop her being a Prefect.

Faultymain5 · 01/09/2019 18:34

@JoceHark please don't take this the wrong way. But your childhood sounds mean and I kind of think you are projecting. This however is a blazer pocket. Her comfort in class is equally if not more important than her fitting in. The school blazer is cheaper material than the M&S one. Sorry but it is.

It's also not bulky and she feels happy, so far, wearing it. I will however, take your comments under advisement.

NoLeopard · 01/09/2019 18:31

Sorry just seen that you said it goes from edge to edge

NoLeopard · 01/09/2019 18:30

That's a seriously wide badge! Can you cut the sides down or does the badge take up all the material? I wouldn't be surprised if that was meant to fit a tracksuit.

Rolypolybabies · 01/09/2019 18:30

Gosh why are people being so rude?

JoceHark · 01/09/2019 18:28

YOU'RE doing that. YOUR kid will pay for it.

Anyhoo, i'm off, I suspect you are pulling our collective leg. Nobody is that ignorant.

JoceHark · 01/09/2019 18:27

Believe me, telling her 'but it came from M&S darling' isn't going to mean shit.

Faultymain5 · 01/09/2019 18:25

Georgie Yes they sell the badges separately but no one actually does that.

Well I'm doing that. Unlikely to change my mind either. For all the reasons above. Mainly comfort.

PP: I dont know other parents, but I imagine if any had M&S' uniform deal a few weeks back then there will be a few. We'll see on Tuesday

Balance out being itchy and uncomfortable with people calling her

Poor 'aw mummy couldn't afford the proper blazer'
Weird blazer girl
Yeah but why does your blazer look like that? YEAH but why, yeah but why, yeah but why

It never fails to amaze me that people will put their kids up for this shit willingly to prove a point that the kid probably doesn't give a fuck about.

I give you the mum who decided to KNIT her kids school jumpers because the school ones were cheap. Her son had a shit time of it before he stopped wearing it.

You are asking for your kid to stick out at an age when they want to fit in. It may be wrong, it may be bullshit, kids who bully are fuckers etc etc, but you are still putting your kid up for it.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 01/09/2019 18:24

Sorry OP but JoceHark is right. Chances are the little fuckers will rip it off his back and destroy it anyway.

TeenPlusTwenties · 01/09/2019 18:22

I don't see the difficulty.
Just sew it on with the logo centralised on the pocket but going a bit either side of it as well.

You absolutely cannot:

  • put the badge on the wrong side
  • put the badge at the wrong height

You could conceivably remove the pocket, but that is where many pupils will store their pen, and it is bound to move a mark so I wouldn't do that either.

Fruityb · 01/09/2019 18:20

EVERY other kid will be wearing that blazer. You are making the issue not your child!

Faultymain5 · 01/09/2019 18:19

Onering It is a cheap and nasty material, immovable and itchy. Sorry, but not having her sat in class focusing on that rather than being as comfortable as possible with both blazer and jumper. If she has to wear a blazer, it will be a half decent one that she feels comfortable in.

I personally have been very disappointed with the quality of the school shop clothes

OP posts:
JoceHark · 01/09/2019 18:18

Have you told your DS his blazer isn't the same as everyone else?

You may as well send him to school with a neon flashing sign saying kick me. You think the kids won't notice? They will.
