Hello All,

Welcome to thread 6 - results...

Last thread here:

Gcses 2019 support thread 5 http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/3610608-gcses-2019-support-thread-5

It's been a fantastically supportive set of threads to date with a diverse set of expectations and challenges (for both parents and children).

I expect this thread may be the most emotive for us all (crikey how did the time fly!!)

Good luck everyone Thanks

I thought that!
Very naughty!

Just popping over from another thread having read what monty posted. Ermm! That's really naughty! There is a strict embargo on results on the day before. The school has to only allow access to the results for a handful of people (eg exams officer, data wrangler, headteacher) and must not share them more widely. I presume they get around this by contacting parents but not telling them the results, thereby increasing stress.

Even the universities/UCAS don't do their bit until about 6 am on the actual results day!

Good Luck to all of you and your DCs awaiting results! tomorrow

Thanks for the new thread!

DD seems not too bad, though she did have a meltdown last night when I asked her not to leave unwashed things next to the sink, so maybe it's coming out in different ways!

We also have issues with telling grandparents with high expectations glee. And her dad who she rarely sees.

Good luck everyone getting through the last day and fingers crossed all the dc get what they need tomorrow.

DS needs and average grade of 6.4 across all 10 GCSEs (they can’t leave any out) plus 7’s in the subjects he wants to study to stay at his school. His mocks exceeded the grade requirements but you never know (I’ve currently decided he’s failed everything). We have no plan B!

He’s off to Reading (early bird ticket) today to pitch his tent, Back this evening, into school for 8.30 tomorrow then back down to Reading. I hope they’re all celebrating not commiserating.

Thanks DeRigueur
😮 Good luck Monty . It is very nerve wracking. I hope he gets what he needs. Do you have a plan B sorted out?
That Is high entrance requirements - I take it it is very selective 6th form/ school?
I had no idea that schools could give out results early!

Can I join you? Struggling to sleep worrying about the results on Thursday! Have planned a busy day today (Wednesday) so we are occupied!

Hoooo · 21/08/2019 03:49

Thanks DRM

Montysmam · 21/08/2019 03:11

Our DS is not predicted great results and we were told that if they are not good enough (3x6s and 3x7s) then he probably won’t be invited back for 6th form. If it is not good the school will contact us the day before (TODAY!!) I’m sooo nervous, has anyone been through this before? If so what time do the schools get the results?

Thank you Derigeur. Just settling myself in ready for Thursday.
