Ds emotional last night.

I sat in the car crying whilst listening to slipping through my fingers by abba yesterday 🙄🤣

I just drying ds1s uniform for today as we speak...last time!

Good luck to all taking their last exam today 🍀

Yes, very odd feeling yesterday - ds said it hadn't sunk in that school was now 'done'. He has to pop back in today to hand back textbooks, but that's it now until results day. Although, we won't be completely finished with the place as dp starts a job there in Sept Grin

Ds is having a long lie-in, then he's off to the gym, briefly into school and then it's party time! His job interview went well so he's just waiting to hear back - fingers crossed because the money is great. We've not had his NI number through though which is a total pain; I'm going to have to write to them today because getting through on the phones is impossible...

Foslady · 14/06/2019 06:56

Good luck everyone forcthe physics today (on the last three countdown for us!) - and good luck for anyone who’s dc’s are celebrating this weekend!!!!

KittyMcKitty · 14/06/2019 06:45

Today’s the end for ds - he’s staying at his school so not big changes but they wear a suit and different tie in the 6th form.

Good luck to all doing Physics today and my thoughts with those dc who have Further Maths, German and any other final exams next week.

Pythonesque · 13/06/2019 23:42

DD boards so we've only heard a little this week. I think she's been rowing this afternoon - Physics tomorrow ... Doing Add Maths on Tuesday which I think hasn't had a lot done for it yet. Saturday she's going to a rowing regatta all day; but rowing is proving her stress release so I'm not too bothered. I'm planning to do a little maths with her on Sunday - don't yet know if that will be at home or at school!

Luciaia · 13/06/2019 23:26

Anyone else’s dc having mixed feelings about the end of exams? She says that she’s very happy about the freedom but on the other hand the end is making her anxious and she doesn’t know why. Hope this isn’t the start of an end of exam season crash as feel as though she deserves to enjoy her summer

WeirdOne · 13/06/2019 23:14

Thanks Foslady and Callmeadoctor.
I will explain that to the invigilator if she tries to take it away.
He's absolutely overwhelmed tonight so hope he can cope tomorrow.
Last one though.

DeRigueurMortis · 13/06/2019 23:09

I must admit to having a bit of a wobble tonight.

I've been pretty "chilled" (or rather forced myself to be) on the state of his bedroom over tte exam period.

Anyway - whilst DS was in the shower I bravely ventured into his room to do a quick tidy.

As I was picking up all his crumpled pieces of uniform and was silently cussing (thinking about how much time I've spent washing/ironing).

Then I had the revelation that I'm never going to do that again.

No more school shirts/trousers to iron etc and I felt (stupidly) sad.

Then silly as I've "over prepped" and with only one day left he has 3 clean/pressed lots of uniform to "wear".

I just felt a bit overwhelmed if I'm honest. It feels like such a big milestone and had a silent/swift sob (feel free to hand me a MN grip - I'm clearly in need).

Anyhow I've devised a plan for next week to clear his room of all the school clothing and donate (that which is still wearable and in good condition) to the school's shop (they offer a discrete service to families referred by the school wrt sourcing affordable clothing).

Foslady · 13/06/2019 23:07

Three more exam days then it's All over.
Seems so strange - no uniform to buy for September, loads of stuff to sort through and pass on. It feels weird, a chapter ending (6th form will be same but different), feel a bit sad, but also relieved that we made it through (I had bad PND/PNA, and always worried that i’d Mess up her life - well so far so good!).

Arewedone · 13/06/2019 22:54

Dd in bed 🥂

MaddieElla · 13/06/2019 22:51

DD saying she's definitely taking a protractor and muttered parallelogram something and vector something else. Grin

Iambuffy · 13/06/2019 22:21

I've taken the trusty whiteboard down.

Some revision guides given to my sister, I'll take the rest into school.

I've told ds to sort his stuff/papers for burning.

Feels very odd.

Rugbylife..I was always under the impression that JL has a good rturns/customer service thing so definitely worth a try.

Very strange evening here.
Uniform and books packed to take in tomorrow.
Next time he goes to school ..will be for results.
Cant believe I wont be seeing bits of uniform scattered around the house !!
The recycling bag is very full !!

Arewedone · 13/06/2019 21:56

Rugbylife- what a nightmare! It sounds like the leather wasn’t finished correctly after dying, not sure if you are outside the return policy at JL but worth a try !

Rugbylife · 13/06/2019 21:47

Prom shoes update, I’ve taken them to two cobblers today, they tried saddle soap that didn’t work, second one tried something else it sort of shined them but started taking the colour off, they are burgundy leather he said in his opinion they’re faulty as the colour shouldn’t come off and looks like the leather wasn’t dried correctly. I bought them online from John Lewis in April ready for prom next week. I’ve ordered 3 pairs of replacements today, hopefully one of them will be ok.

Iambuffy · 13/06/2019 21:34

It wasn't brilliant but he was pleased :)

DD has revised hard for all 3 exams tomorrow. Hope they're OK so she can relax a bit before the final one on Monday.

Arewedone · 13/06/2019 21:23

Buffy - love that ❤️ Hope DS had a lovely day

Iambuffy · 13/06/2019 21:18

Ds also finished!!! :)

Ds2 and I just surprised him with a rendition of the game of thrones theme tune on the piano - we've been practising :)

Arewedone · 13/06/2019 21:17

Dd officially done revising🤪 last practice paper finished. No prom but her BF in the year above has arranged a surprise party at his house so at least a celebration:) not giving results a second thought - she has worked so hard so I’m happy with whatever she had achieved. Lots of luck everyone taking last exams tomorrow.its been a slog 👍🏻

callmeadoctor · 13/06/2019 20:13

WeirdOne, protractor is definitely needed tomorrow. As a general rule exam paper will say what you CANT use on the front. If it doesn't say that you CANT use something then you are fine.( For instance on a maths non calculator, it will say calculators may not be used)

Iambuffy · 13/06/2019 19:54

Ds is tucking into birthday flapjack :)

He finishes school tomorrow at 12.30pm.

OP posts:
TabbyStar · 13/06/2019 19:23

Yeah it does seem mean they finish it on an option rather than something everyone does, though I'm glad we're done tomorrow!

gleegeek · 13/06/2019 19:19

Congratulations Behind 🎉👏👏👏 That's lovely news!
Sorry about your dad Pointy and your brother Arewedone - it's such a terrible illness to have to watch xx
Dd says OCR Geog was easyShock which worries me! Apparently the hardest thing was juggling a huge map on little tables without pencil cases/drinks/answer booklets going flying! She says the invigilators were laughing at them😂
Really struggling to find the energy and interest for the physics and German. I think it's going to be really tough when everyone else has finished and there's a wee group of them still got one to go. Wish German was tomorrow afternoon!
