ds said physics was fine, ran out of time for last question, but managed to stick down all the equations you needed to use, and do the first bit, so should get a few marks

Bimkom · 14/06/2019 13:24

Good luck for those still going. Last year (where I mostly lurked) people did keep checking in on the thread all summer (it would be nice to read about how the proms went, for those who have them, and other activities for those who are doing exciting things - I certainly feel like I know some of your DC, and they have all had such a difficult and stressful time, it would be nice to hear they are enjoying themselves as well find out how the non school challenges go- eg Rugby how you end up coping with the shoe crisis ), and then in the few days before the results everybody was back on as an outlet for their nervousness while waiting during the countdown (I certainly will need it, as DS will be very, very nervous, and having me obviously nervous as well will definitely not help). Do the IGCSE results still come out weeks before the regular GCSEs? Most of us are waiting on 22nd August. Are there any other dates?

Iambuffy · 14/06/2019 13:09

Ds very happy with latter half of physics paper.
He is very tearful though bless him.

DD said physics was a fantastic paper, really happy. Got the last question. I'm so pleased she has finished on a high because she's been very up and down in terms of how she thinks she's done.

And we are done. Smile

Have a fab summer everyone and I will 'see' you in August.

readyforsunshine · 14/06/2019 12:23

Well done to all dcs & cheers to us!🥂
Been great to have your company & support along the way as well as getting feedback on the exams. I hope you all have a wonderful summer & that results day brings what they all need to get them to their next step.
Just spoke to dd & she’s delighted to be finished but didn’t feel the exam went as well as the others have. At least her worst was her last!

Arewedone · 14/06/2019 12:01

IGCSE edexcel physics feedback was it was was ok but tricky something about a catch you out nucleus question and another on moments!
Off to have a drastic hair change to celebrate!
Hope everyone can breathe now. We are done 😀

Itsagrandoldteam · 14/06/2019 11:48

DS was happy with physics, he said there were questions on tyres and braking, and being a big formula 1 fan he was happy with those.
His last exam is on Monday, I must remember to take a photo.
It doesn't seem like end of an era, because he will be staying on in 6th form, but some of his closest friends are moving on.

My DS's school (usually very strict on uniform) gave out their hoodies before the GCSE's started, and they have been allowed to wear them instead of their blazers. I think that was a great idea, because he has already worn it for 4 weeks, I doubt after Monday that he will ever wear it again.

Congratulations to everyone that has finished, and not long to go now for those that haven't.

myrtleWilson · 14/06/2019 11:44

And.... we're done. Will be rooting for you on Monday foslady

silent what an odd set up having to hang around for 45 minutes! Hope it flies by...

have dropped DD at a friends house, party tonight and another tomorrow night and then I suspect a fair amount of sleep on Sunday.

These threads have been so great - thank you all!

bizzey · 14/06/2019 11:40

SilentSister I hope they are at least allowed to put their head down on the table for a snooze !

Will be wierd to feel the difference in 45 mins .
In an exam it feels like 45 seconds..
In this case it will feel like 45 hours 😂

pikapikachu · 14/06/2019 11:39

My dd was happy with Physics. She left straight after the exam as she's got German next week so didn't want to see the majority celebrating the end of GCSEs.

SilentSister · 14/06/2019 11:35

DD mixed about hr Physics. The wordy questions were good, and she was pleased with them, but she said the formulea ones were tricky. She couldn't do a couple.

Just Biology for us to this pm. Their board does a weird multiple choice paper 3, just to prolong the agony Grin. Also, and I think I mentioned this before, it is only 45 mins long, but they have to stay for 1.30hrs to fit in with the timetables of other schools. So, they have to sit for an extra 45 mins not doing anything.

She is then off to town to get DH something for father days - bless.

Iambuffy · 14/06/2019 11:33

fos I shall be here wishing you well on Monday:)

bizzey · 14/06/2019 11:32

Ahh Foslady keep posting .
We can't let you do the last bit on your own !!

bizzey · 14/06/2019 11:27

Well ds came home smiling!
But not sure if it was because I was jumping aroud singing "Congratulations"
Or ...he has finished
Or ...Physics was good .
I am not going to ask him .

I did say to ..woohoo all GCSE,S done
Then he said ..yeah till i do the re takes .

( might not get rid of all the English and Maths books yet !)

Foslady · 14/06/2019 11:25

Dd happy with physics too, but appears to be the only one!
Congratulations to all who have survived - I’ll be here til Tuesday if anyone else is still here!

Iambuffy · 14/06/2019 11:19

Thank you to all of you who have kept me company during these months/weeks.

I guess we will all bd back for a year 12 support thread 😁❤

Now the long wait to see if we have the grades for the dreaded sixth form.

But first, tidying and clothes shopping!!!!

Fibbke · 14/06/2019 11:15

Dd very happy with physics! We are done! Thought i wouldnt care but actually i feel delighted. Good luck everyone x

srilankadreaming · 14/06/2019 11:14

YAY! They are OVER!!!! Very relieved but it hasn't sunk in yet for DD. Perhaps it will on Sunday when it was both maths and Physics tutors every week. That was grim. So nice to feel it's all done with.
I wanted to say thank you to everyone for the support received on this thread. At times it has seemed impossible that DD would come through this still mentally intact and like others I've been at my wits end at times. The lovely non judgemental people on here have seen me through. I'm so glad it wasn't a competitive thread.
Good luck to all those who still have more exams to come.
Now the long wait … 'speak' to you in August. Have a great summer everyone. x

Bimkom · 14/06/2019 11:13

Well DS loved the physics paper. Everything he had studied came up, and he felt really proud of himself getting the last question. Physics tends to be his weakest science, and he keeps dithering about whether he wants to take it for A level or not. What he really wants is an AS level in it, but none of the options even vaguely open do AS levels anymore. But it was a great way to end, I think after the worries with maths and English.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 14/06/2019 11:03

I'm pleased ds is moving on. He's not been particularly happy there through the GCSE years really and that, plus upheavals at home (the worst being that his dad upped and left the country permanently with a week's notice just as ds went into year 10), means that we've had a pretty unsettled and stressful couple of years. His school is absolutely excellent in many, many ways but it's definitely time for a change.

Moving from all-boys independent to a mixed state sixth-form will be fun - a new social circle and hopefully a 'tribe' that suits him a little better. I'm quite excited for him Grin

TeenTimesTwo · 14/06/2019 10:56

@AGirlHasNoCake What's she planning at the moment?

BTECs can often be done at a 'Level 2' (GCSE equiv) level whilst retaking Maths/English, and then take a further 2 years for the level3.

(If she is dubious to get 5 passes then even if she does, A levels might not be right for her anyway).

whojamaflip · 14/06/2019 10:52

Just waiting for the call to go and pick Ds up then off out for lunch just the 2 of us.

Took a picture of him wearing his uniform for the last time ever and must admit I did shed a tear - first one to leave school and all that.......

Then it's suit shopping for leavers - he's refused to even think about it before now - hopefully he's in a better mood than when he left this morning Hmm

Good luck to those who still have exams to go - I for one am glad they are over!

Foslady · 14/06/2019 10:51

@bizzey that’s fabGrin

steppemum · 14/06/2019 10:49

ds sitting physics, last one!went into him last night, saw him working hard on the computer, turns out he was making a CV to try and get a job.
Physics is A level choice, I really hope he has actually done some revision. He siad he is so tired, and a lot of that must be emotional, as he has had plenty of lie-ins!

Their 'last day' and festivities was before half term, on the friday before exams started. They have only been in for exams since, no more revision sessions etc since then.

I wanted ds to take his old logo uniform in today and hand it all in to second hand shop. He refused Hmm

He plans on going to sixth form in same school, and they have sixth form induction days x 2 in July, we will have to go shopping as he needs smart clothes, and he possesses jeans and tracksuits.

Quite glad they will be on same site, many of same friends etc.
