I made 3 outfits for eggs - DH was so impressed with them and said I should set up a business making them but think I will sticking to day job. Not sure there's too much demand for egg outfits! DS got in a panic saying work had stopped as he needed a 42cm diameter centre circle and nothing in house exactly that size - I then pointed out to him in the pictures the stage was square and that crisis was over. Not sure what he's done on it - he told me he had made the crowd apart from there heads so some headless people!

Penguinpandarabbit · 19/04/2019 22:59

Glad you had a nice time at Butlins and got DS swimming Witchend

DS has half a haircut Grin - there's no way he can go to school with it as it is, its long at the front, short at the back! He's better at women's hairdressers as he's fussy about the style but DH always takes him to barbers were they cut a lot off but DS is quite vain - he is complaining his style has gone - normally his hair looks like a public school boys blonde floppy hairstyle with quiff and he loves it. But hoping to get him for an emergency barber cut tomorrow otherwise will have a go myself - women's ones are always booked up on Saturdays.

We have been swimming three times on our 2 week David Lloyd trial though DD has refused to come. Got some painting done at old house and arranged for bathroom to be redone and all things for that are now with us. Cleared out some more things too. Rabbits are neutered. Back to school on Tuesday.

Witchend · 19/04/2019 22:35

Hope you got the lot done.
When ds was a toddler, I'd just done one side when he turned and I nicked his ear. He wouldn't let me near him with scissors for a week. He looked very interesting as at that time I generally let it grow to around a short bob level then cut back to short back and sides to minimise haircuts. Grin

We've just got back from Butlins. Ds swam every day except one, so no need to discuss baths/showers. However now the weather has warmed up he is now getting hysterical about the possibility of wasps. He only started this last year, and has never been stung, so not quite sure what to do about it. Last summer he spent one day at the seaside mostly inside the car because there might be wasps around.

Penguinpandarabbit · 17/04/2019 19:29

DH finally got DS to barbers Shock - not sure when we last got him there 6 months or so ago. But DH has just returned for the car, barber has cut onside and DS is having a meltdown - could be an interesting haircut.

Penguinpandarabbit · 15/04/2019 22:25

Hobbycraft stuff arrived today and DS told me he had done lots of work with it for his homework project. Asked him what he had made and he said oh nothing yet I am doing hours of planning first and I am just in the planning phase now. 😎

DH is from Paris and has been watching notre dame and DS empathy levels as high as ever is singing Notre dame is burning down, my fair Frenchman.

DS and DH went swimming yesterday but DS said it was boring with DH. Just organising work on old house and DD suddenly said to me yesterday I need to see a dentist asap so arranging that but there's nothing especially happening with her teeth so not sure why its suddenly an emergency. She has been saying she wants to move back to old house to go to her old grammar school but know if we did that a few weeks later she would be asking to come back here.

Hope you are all having a good Easter and green if you are still around hope house move went well.

Penguinpandarabbit · 14/04/2019 15:03

DS also has only one close friend at the new school and he says he is identical to one of his 3 best friends at his old school but he needs to find 2 identical children to the other two and you can't rush friendships. Hmm He won't do a playdate with new friend, only old ones and he has only done that twice since September - they are an hour away but he does seem happy. He is the opposite on silliness though, very happy to join in any silliness, remember him getting time out for a carrot throwing competition in y6.

Glad your other three have had chicken pox. Mine had it together. Hope you can get some sleep soon. DD is saying everything I have ordered from Hobbycraft is of no interest though I am sure she will be all over it when it arrives she just likes to moan.

DobbinsVeil · 14/04/2019 13:47

Thanks Penguins. DS2 seems ok, he's really not one for that kind of joke/behaviour, so even if he hadn't have got drawn on he wouldn't have stayed.

I do worry that he doesn't really fit in with his peers. Not that I want him to behave like that but he's pretty friendless as the gap seems to have widen at secondary tbh. There's one boy he gets on well with at school that seems similar minded to him, but DS2 won't entertain the idea of suggesting a meet up outside school.

Other 3 had chicken pox 5 years ago, also at Easter do it's just DS4 thankfully. He's not sleeping so I'm 😴

I hope the Hobbycraft order keeps them well occupied! Glad DS has washed hair, and enjoyed the swimming. Hope the work on old house goes ok.

Penguinpandarabbit · 14/04/2019 09:27

Poor DS2 and DS4* Dobbins Maturity levels aren't high but you would have expected more than 5 minutes. Argh chicken pox, hope the others have had it already and he starts improving. Would DS2 do anything at home, my DS does teddies, Netflix, puzzle books and occasionally art things.

DS says there's a decorate an egg homework for history with a historical figure. He was not sure about this so I suggested a beheaded egg with French Revolution as he prefers to be different and loves gruesome. He was very enthusiastic but now seems to have plans for a scene 1 metre by 1 metre 😱 with Marie Antoinette, King Louis and Napoleon. Napoleon wasn't at the beheadings but historical facts seem an irrelevance. 😂 I have had to order so much for this scene from Hobbycraft though would imagine he will break an egg and it will be over. DD then moaned she wanted Hobbycraft stuff to so did second order. Still hopefully will be enough for weekends and rest of year. £58 😱😱😱 But first time in a couple of years DS has asked for anything and hoping DD will help him. She says no but loves this sort of thing. He normally refuses my help as looks like adult work.

Went swimming on Wed so DS finally got hair washed but still no haircut. Thurs and Sat were work on old house as will be three days next week. Swimming at David Lloyd today we are on 2 week trial for £16 each and its lovely but can't justify joining or afford it atm. Saw they had dive sticks, said to DS shall I throw one for you. no Mummy I am too old. Threw one and he went for it and another 99 😂 Dd is meeting with friends today and tomorrow but has been doing painting at old house, pay her to help.

DobbinsVeil · 13/04/2019 20:02

I'm feeling really guilty. DS2 wasn't feeling great and was making noises about not going to thet party. I said, just go for a bit you've said you would it's rude etc. DH dropped him off only for DS2 to reappear home not long after. Apparently a group of them decided to take sharpies and a boy drew on DS2's face and top. He's really upset Sad. I am surprised at this behaviour at a 12th birthday party in a hall, I know teen house parties things can get v silly, but he can't have been there any more than 5 mins. Can't even arrange a fun thing to do to cheer him up next week as DS4 has chicken pox!

Penguinpandarabbit · 08/04/2019 18:59

Ordered giant duck to go to DHs work and when DH went to collect parcel one of the Managing Directors was there and said what's that and DH had to explain it was a giant rubber bath duck for his son. Grin Thankfully MD just laughed.

Witchend · 08/04/2019 18:56

Ds hates the idea of baths. But loves them once in and won't get out. Number of times he's told me he's clean and doesn't need a bath (because once the mud is dry it'll brush off). Hmm

Penguinpandarabbit · 08/04/2019 18:51

32cm yellow bath duck has arrived and DS is dancing with it. It apparently hates baths too though!

Penguinpandarabbit · 08/04/2019 15:31

😂 Dobbins DS is asking if we can go to David Lloyd tonight so he can play tennis with DH or swim with me. DH has said no to tennis. Bet he will just end up cafeing if he doesn't refuse to leave house 😎

Tennis instructor e-mailed to ask if he is coming tomorrow, definitely not. I am trying to organize refurbishing old house, bathroom order has gone fine but Carpetright omg. 😱 Today's error is they have cancelled everything but kept all our money, this has been going on since 31 March, its a different issue almost everyday. Never again.

DobbinsVeil · 08/04/2019 14:45

Sorry the tennis didn't work out penguin, hope the duck works its magic. DS2 asked for tennis lessons a couple of years ago then wouldn't go in. Which is the case for all clubs he's asked to join over the years Hmm

I had to collect DS2 at 11.45am on Friday! He still isn't well now, but at least it's the holidays so no angry attendance letters. We did get a school postcard praising him for his efforts in RS, which he was not impressed by as he hates both the subject and teacher. Usual DS2 reaction!

Penguinpandarabbit · 08/04/2019 11:00

He lasted 5 mins and I got messages from tennis instructor saying no idea what to do so DH went to get him but he came home by himself. Tennis instructor sounded very stressed and not happy.

Still I have ordered him a 32cm bath duck to try and attract him in the bath and it is arriving today. He is very excited but says he is not going in the bath Grin

We have joined David Lloyd for 2 weeks trial so he can play tennis there but DH is like McEnroe senior and I can't play at all.

Hope you are having a lovely break.

Witchend · 08/04/2019 10:45

Easter holidays here too.

Ds is happily doing everything except his homework. However his target set for the term is to "do his English homework with enthusiasm" Grin I laughed. He didn't.

Ds plays tennis. When younger he did tend to work on the theory that if he missed it, it was out. Tbf a lot of small boys do. Just as they also come off court saying "we may have lost 6-0 but we hit better shots". that missed the court by about 6 feet

He's got a lot better, but most of the boys are inclined to play along the lines of "I've just hit the best shot in the world."
I remember one time he was playing with a couple of girls. Every time he won, he shouted "yes". I was just going to tell him this wasn't good etiquette when the (young male) coach went over and joined in, so I thought he'd tell him.
No, he was far worse. If he hit a good shot he ran round the court celebrating like a goal in football.
I realised then that they just enjoyed playing like that.

Mind you I have played adult matches where players (or worse parents) would put McEnroe to shame. Had one lady yesterday explaining that she knew the ball on our baseline was definitely in (she was standing on her baseline) because of the way my partner ran to it. Hmm Wouldn't have been so bad if her calls throughout the match had been so bad even her partner corrected her.

Penguinpandarabbit · 08/04/2019 09:57

DS has just gone off to tennis lesson. Shock This isn't likely to end well but can live in hope. He was like John McEnroe Jnr when DH was trying with him.

Penguinpandarabbit · 04/04/2019 11:03

Hope you have a lovely Easter too Dobbins Hooray for 91% and one day to go Grin

I am a regular sender of emails in early hours so I couldn't really complain 😳

DS did a speech in assembly at school. 😱 He said they got to write it and chose how long they spoke for. DS said his was the longest by far and 222 people were there. He seems much better at school - he's got 7 reward points this week including 2 for constant high expectations for uniform they must have low expectations 😂 He is also eating properly at school now which I prefer, wasn't too bad before as we are close but when he's anxious he avoids eating.

Parties yes money in envelope still done unless really close friend and think they would prefer present. I prefer giving and them getting money, DS has no interest in presents, still hasn't opened those from his party in January or Christmas.

DobbinsVeil · 04/04/2019 10:33

This thread dropped off my list, not been on MN as much due to RL stuff.

Very much ready for the Easter break, DS2 looking very dodgy this morning but has gone to school. He has just about made it to 91% attendance. I get weekly alerts about his attendance on the new communication app, but they come through between midnight and 3am. thinking about sending an email about it, as it's bit anti-social {grumpy}

He's been invited to a party over Easter, not sure what the deal is at secondary. Do they take money in a card or is that not the done thing? It's a party in a hall.

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter hols.

Penguinpandarabbit · 01/04/2019 00:36

Its not normal milk, its special lactose free milk she has and she's fine with it, normal milk makes her ill though. My cat as a child drank normal milk fine everyday and lived to 23 but its quite rare for a cat not to be lactose intolerant. She's 15 soon.

joinedjustfordw · 31/03/2019 23:11

Oops, not sure if I responded to you correctly? Ignore this if so.

joinedjustfordw · 31/03/2019 23:10

Penguinpandarabbit Do NOT give cats milk, it is insanely bad for them. I can’t remember exactly what but I think it’s like poison for them. They like it but my God is it awful for their digestive systems. Cartoons and whatnot are liars, just like how mice don’t actually like cheese per se just the smell but anyways look it up milk is really harmful to cats.

Penguinpandarabbit · 31/03/2019 19:22

Hope everyone had a good week. Only one week to Easter 🐇🐣

DD is still on the washing up liquid trying to get ginger out of her hair. 😂

DS and DD seemed to have a good week. I had lots of work in so didn't get mothers day off but DH and DS did bake me a lovely lemon cake and made me a roast dinner. Cat keeps trying to drink my tea so now DH brings her hot milk and water and she is very happy, she's sleeping so much now.

Penguinpandarabbit · 23/03/2019 17:02

Kate Glad it went well re the PE.

We are going to Sweden and Norway in the summer - mostly Norway. Just finished booking all the places we are staying at instead of doing work and the moose safari. DS said its good we are going to different places rather than our previous holiday where we stayed in same resort for 2 weeks and went on trips. Then he said but I don't like travelling. Hmm The 35% outside he says is of his waking hours so not sure if we are expected to time this.
