As the Tiffin deadline looms, is there a girls SW London grammars / indies thread yet?

I just realised that I need to get the Tiffin Girls form in ASAP, and wondered if anyone else is in the same position? I could do with company in this process!

We’re not yet decided but probably applying to Tiffin, WHS, SPGS, Sutton High and maybe one of PHS / Emanuel / KGS.

Many congratulations, Greenleave, Bool and littlemiss!

littlemiss Didn’t you think she’d mucked up the interview or something? I vaguely remember you thinking LEH was unlikely to be an offer - I’m so glad you got one.

Bool From what people have posted, I think WHS has been the most unpredictable so far, but I suppose it makes sense since it’s the first year of their new system. On the other hand, looking at previous threads, it’s always been fairly common to get get one of PHS and WHS, but not both.

Congrats all! We have a place too!

Bool · 09/02/2019 11:09

@TheExtraGuineaPig we are waiting for KGS too! My DS is there and it is a lovely school. Academic, sporty, music and drama. Kids seem well rounded too. Good luck for next week!!!!

Bool · 09/02/2019 11:02

And we have a yes from Ibstock. Is WHS the one that is surprising people?

Greenleave · 09/02/2019 10:56

Many congratulations AnotherYear, we have a yes too!

FlumePlume · 09/02/2019 09:22

Congratulations to Another and Theresa!

I can imagine the relief, Another, end of uncertainty after WHS waitlist. Will you go for LEH, do you think?

And fingers crossed for littlemiss with LEH, too.

Post just arrived with LEH offer for DD!
Had almost given up hope after WHS so celebrations here. 🎉
Good luck to all the others waiting to hear today and later.

TheExtraGuineaPig · 09/02/2019 08:07

Bool - KGS says on the original timeline published by 14th and then in the email after the interview says posted on 14th. So I'm expecting it in the post on Friday. Hopefully!!!

AnotherYearOfChaos · 08/02/2019 23:10

Emanuel was one of the earliest for applications too wasn't it?
It's such a drawn out process.
Good luck to everyone waiting!

Sweetnhappy1 · 08/02/2019 21:46

I think Emanuel will also arrive on Friday 15th.

AnotherYearOfChaos · 08/02/2019 21:14

I think Ibstock, Harrodian and LEH all posted today for tomorrow.............
Then another week for SPGS, G&L and LU which arrive Friday 15th.
The wait then goes on for Tiffin ......

Bool · 08/02/2019 20:34

This process just seems so long and drawn out now. We are waiting for Ibstock too and I think that is another week on top.

Bool · 08/02/2019 20:33

Congrats to @1234Theresa! When is LEH our proper? Tomorrow? We didn’t try there. Next will be KGS. Does anyone know if that is posted on 14th or arrive on 14th? Anyone clearer yet on what they will choose?

TheExtraGuineaPig · 08/02/2019 19:45

I haven't been on for a while and would like to say well done and congrats to all the DDs (and parents) who've got offers and waitlists and best of luck too!

Also marking time here til 15th x

1ndig0 · 08/02/2019 17:46

Congrats to Theresa and good luck / well done to anyone anywhere on waiting lists or waiting for LEH or other schools tomorrow. We’re holding out for 3 on the 15th.

AnotherYearOfChaos · 08/02/2019 13:13

Well done to your DD@1234Theresa !!
We'll have to wait too as our head won't tell us until Monday when the letters should have arrived.

littlemisslucky2 · 08/02/2019 13:02

Well done to your dd!
I think we’ll have to wait for our letter as our head won’t tell us!

1234Theresa · 08/02/2019 12:25

Hello, we just heard from our DD school for LEH ; they were already told yesterday... So if you d like you could ask yours...
It is the first positive result for our DD, so very happy! And for a school that is very high amongst her favourite. Good luck to all of you waiting.

littlemisslucky2 · 08/02/2019 10:38

Yes we’re waiting for LEH tomorrow but not holding out much hope for a place as she found the interview quite tough. Also waiting for another which should come tomorrow. Good luck!

AnotherYearOfChaos · 08/02/2019 10:27

Anyone else waiting nervously for LEH tomorrow after a WHS waitlist?
Just dashed for our post in case it was early but no ...
@FlumePlume good luck for SPGS, WHS has been really tricky this year, glad there are lots of positive experiences from others to help.

FlumePlume · 07/02/2019 19:21

That’s all very reassuring, plus I’ve gone through all the bumph from our second choice (for which we have an offer) and reminded myself why we chose it and liked it. Thank you all - it’s lovely to hear about SPGS success stories despite no WHS offer.

sandy Yes, she does have a scholarship offer. And it’s a good school, just not such a good journey and maybe a little on the small side as she gets older (though that would be a plus for Y7, I’m sure).

HerdingCats12 · 07/02/2019 10:29

Just reading the discussion and wanted to say last year my DD was offered Tiffin, Leh and Putney but waitlisted for WHS.

I think it's because we didn't get time to go over VR and NVR and her real strength is maths which they didn't test at WHS.

So I don't think being waitlisted for WHS is an indication your daughter won't be offered other good schools.

SW153kids · 07/02/2019 10:22

WHS went to WL last year- it seemed to move quite a lot in fact, but not until the state school places came out.....

sandybayley · 07/02/2019 08:21

@FlumePlume - I agree with what others have said, there are always 'odd' results and it sounds like your DD is a bright girl - didn't she get a scholarship somewhere else?

It will be interesting to see if WHS goes to the WL. I think they over offered a few years ago (Sept 2015?) and ended up with an extra class so they won't want to do that again.

HerdingPigs · 06/02/2019 22:07

FlumePlume - Our head (she s been head of our prep for years) said in recent years she has seen more and more girls get into SPGS but not WHS, it is partly because the way their assessments are designed. So it is not that unusual at all! Fingers crossed for you!
