I'm panicking that secondary application may not have been submitted

My DH made an online application. We should have received an e-mail on 1st March informing us which school DS has been offered. He didn't receive anything and can't find any record of the application, a confirmation or a six digit code that our local authority mentions you need to log in to your account. Nothing in the post either (although it says letters are sent by second class post on 1st..and with the snow we possibly wouldn't have that by now anyway). It hasn't been possible to speak to anyone at the council to check.
Other parents have all had the e-mail. I'm pretty convinced that for whatever reason DH didn't submit an application properly.
In the interests of not drip feeding, we have put down a school as first choice that we were not expecting to be offered, but were planning to appeal. I'm now really worried that we may not even get the second choice school.
Does anyone know what happens if you apply after the deadline and what the implications are likely to be? Any advice much appreciated.

Wonderful news Grin
Probably worth getting in touch with admissions and/or the school to make sure they've got a correct email address on record! Don't want to be stuck relying on snail mail forever!!

Fab news.
There was another post a few months ago about somebody's DH who forgot to submit the grammar test application. The poster had a major stress trying to sort it all out - thankfully she did.

I do all the school stuff as DH lacks my obsession attention to detail Grin

Yay brill news !

ridinghighinapril · 06/03/2018 19:28

That's great news!

I read this thread during the weekend and felt quite irked that so many assumed the worst of your husband (he forgot, the was lying about it etc) despite your confidence in him - he is at least vindicated!
I am sure he will check, double check and screen shot everything from now on.
Don't stop him taking on important jobs - this is how men avoid taking on the mental and physical burden of family duties!
I'll step down from my soapbox now.

Rewn7 · 06/03/2018 19:17

Yay! Thank goodness for snail mail 🐌

spacecadet48 · 06/03/2018 17:43

Friskyandhustley fabulous news...i hope your DH has got you a nice bottle of wine after all that stress!

Friskyandhustley · 06/03/2018 17:40

Oh and still don't really know what happened to online application. They obviously got it, I'm guessing DH mistyped his email address or used a random old account. Who knows? What I do know is that I'll be doing it next time. DH will be delegated something unimportant (and yet mind numbingingly tedious and time consuming) instead Wink. Suggestions welcome.

What a fabulous update, so very pleased for you!

Friskyandhustley · 06/03/2018 17:31

Really sorry for the delay in updating - but good news. We got the letter in the post. They had received the application. In a completely unexpected - and brilliant - turn of events, DS got in at first choice school!
I had made a case (based on his specific needs and why school suited him better), but I was 95% sure I was just putting a marker down and was in for a difficult process of appeal. I genuinely can't believe it.
So grateful for the advice and support you all gave. I really was in a proper flap and you all helped me to think straight. Thanks so much.

What news OP?

PanelChair · 06/03/2018 12:16

IAmAGreyhound - Exactly. It is very frustrating when no doubt well-intentioned but misinformed people come on threads like this and offer ‘advice’ which, if followed, would give the OP false hope or leave them in an even worse position or both.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 06/03/2018 11:42

You would certainly not be put at the top of the waiting list if you ballsed up your application, Doubly, please don't spout that crap on threads like this, it's not helpful.
Op, hope it sorts itself out today, best of British 🍀🍀🍀

Rewn7 · 06/03/2018 11:30

Fingers firmly crossed for a positive update @Friskyandhustley

FairiesVsPixies · 06/03/2018 08:25

Did you phone the council or school, OP? Hope it was good news.
