Congratulations to your DS lulia. Which house is he going into?

Iulia68 · 19/06/2017 12:31

All good - he got in !!!! Yay!

Missingthepoint · 18/06/2017 11:11

Yes I agree some preps only go up to 11. I think it tends to depend on the local normal transfer age. I live in an area with a number of Grammar schools as well as independents. A number of the preps only go to 11 because that is the age a lot of children transfer to senior day schools. Obviously there are some preps that go to 13 as there are a number of Independents that have an entry at that age.

originalbiglymavis · 18/06/2017 11:04

Ah that explains it. Some preps just go through to 11 though.

Missingthepoint · 18/06/2017 11:01

Originalbiglymavis. - I think the person's son is currently attending a private secondary school with pupils age 11- 18 but intends to leave to go to Eton., As I understand it all prep schools go up to age 13 and their whole reason to exist is to prepare children for Independent secondary school or as we used to call them Public Schools.

originalbiglymavis · 18/06/2017 10:36

I'm being thick here - aren't all privates preps? I'd be pissed off with the school for not getting the results out faster. Good luck for tomorrow.

Iulia68 · 18/06/2017 09:41

It is 13+ I am also talking about!
DS is not in a prep school so I am due to be told tomorrow. A bit annoying but his current private school is not that organised with an aim of delivering the results in the same manner as the other schools.

originalbiglymavis · 18/06/2017 08:49

Lulia - what year? When did he sit the exams? Our 13+ lot all got theirs on Friday.

platinum3 · 18/06/2017 00:13

Hi lulia68. If you look under the Talk education topics, The staffroom is there.

TisGlorious · 17/06/2017 23:49

Lulia - Good luck hope you her good news soon.

Iulia68 · 17/06/2017 22:51

Hi - what is Staffroom?

Iulia68 · 17/06/2017 22:49

Well done to all who found out Fri! I suppose this is the benefit of going to a Prep school? As in, there is a "procedure" of being told!
And here is me, still waiting : DS is not in a prep school, he is supposed to go to Eton in Sep but no idea if he has passed.

Well, suppose I will find out tomorrow so not much I can do about it.

platinum3 · 17/06/2017 13:37

New CE thread up in The Staffroom if anyone is interested.

originalbiglymavis · 16/06/2017 20:38

Picked up tired and dirty child from his camping trip and the kids were given envelopes (parents had already been called).

Much whooping, cheering, hugging and tears (happy ones). What a lovely bunch of kids! Lump in throat!

TisGlorious · 16/06/2017 20:12

Yay! Fantastic news. DS got great results including a 'B' in Maths a subject we thought he would never crack. We're going to have a lovely weekend. Hope everyone is celebrating? Smile can't believe it's all over.

Foinavon · 16/06/2017 17:26

Got results! Pleased for him, he worked steadily and sees it paid off. Got an A in a subject he has never got an A in but got a C in a subject he has never got a C in... I guess that's why we worry about exams. Overall v happy. Teta and TisGlorious any news?

originalbiglymavis · 16/06/2017 14:29

We had the call... Merit for 7/10, pass on the other two. I'm actually a bit numb. Is it too early for 🍷?

GinGarden · 16/06/2017 11:38

We had a call from our HM telling us to open the bubbly! He passed! All good here. Fingers x for everyone. Now just can't wait to see him and give big hugs (feeling emotional) xx

TisGlorious · 16/06/2017 11:14

Congratulations to you both, especially TamSam. Haven't heard anything here yet.

Vco001 · 16/06/2017 11:03

Foinavon · 16/06/2017 11:03

That's great news TamSam, you can relax. I won't hear until end of day. Keeping busy until then. Fingers crossed for everyone.

TamSam61 · 16/06/2017 10:54

DS is in his preferred school!! Woohoo. Cue champagne 😄

TisGlorious · 16/06/2017 10:54

D-Day. Anyone heard anything yet?

TamSam61 · 13/06/2017 20:33

Friday we get told officially but I reckon they'd have told us a definite "no" today if it was bad news.....

originalbiglymavis · 13/06/2017 20:13

Our head of next school upsy days that she has only had a couple of kids in this situation and she was literally driving them to alternate schools for interviews. I think your current school will make calls for you to likely schools to set up meetings, and send over scores, CV, etc.
