Hi all. Keep in touch with uni offers, new jobs, gap years, exams, etc. We can get through his Grin

Lol DS1 hates ice cream, smoothies and anything cold whereas DS2 can't get enough so Ben and Jerry's wouldn't work here.

Verdict on History (Edexcel, Tudors) was that there were a couple of horrible questions which everyone hated but luckily he'd revised that so was able to cobble together an argument.

I just realised when I picked him up that that would be the final time I would ever pick him up from school as I am away tomorrow Sad

aginghippy · 21/06/2017 13:52

Liney I bought some Ben and Jerry's yesterday after the disastrous maths exam. It definitely helped Smile

LineyWimey · 21/06/2017 13:48

I bought Ben and Jerry's ice cream this morning. Seems to be going down well. Top tip Smile

DS says OCR Physics was ok, but he's dreading the 3rd Physics paper next week because the specimen papers are 'impossible'.

He has to get a B, and he's not sure how to revise effectively on the basis of the specimen papers.

HSMMaCM · 21/06/2017 13:10

Dd is weighing up the pros and cons of sweltering heat and revising or going to a friend's house with a pool.

I suggested maybe taking her revision and just diving in every 10 mins

DD also AQA said it was not as bad as expected.

dingit · 21/06/2017 12:18

Dd did edexcel, but was far happier than after c3 maths!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2017 12:16

And - her verdict is it was a good paper - more like the old spec ones, which she preferred. Whew.
(This was AQA, someone on one of her group chats thought edexcel was hard.)

JugglingFromHereToThere · 21/06/2017 12:03

Love it Errol, especially about coddling the Molly!

GetAHaircutCarl · 21/06/2017 11:26

errol I think it is a good lesson to learn. Optimal conditions are all well and good but rarely achievable.

Discovering you can have a decent stab at something in less desirable circumstances is brilliant IMVHO.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2017 11:19

To me, one of the lovely things about teenagers is how they can be completely adult and responsible sometimes and childish other times.

Yes - especially when they know they're being child-like and accept mummy's help rather than being stroppy!Grin(and that 'help' may of course sometimes be a mild suggestion on how to get their act together rather than mollycoddling. But, sometimes the molly darned well needs coddling!)

aginghippy · 21/06/2017 10:52

Aah Errol, I hope she is ok today.

To me, one of the lovely things about teenagers is how they can be completely adult and responsible sometimes and childish other times.

My dd has the same exams, physics now and C4 on Friday.

Good luck everyone!

ono40 · 21/06/2017 10:18

Errol, DS didn't sleep a wink on Thursday following his English but said he knocked out a good History paper on the Friday so I am sure your DD will be fine (although she will collapse in an exhausted heap tonight).

It was cooler here last night but I didn't sleep too well. Off to Manchester later but can't decide what to wear as the journey will be hot as hades (thanks Virgin trains) but I believe storms and torrential rain are forecast.

Good luck to all today!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2017 09:23

Morning (which is good). Then nothing tomorrow, maths C4 friday morning, so not too bad. And it's cooled down quite a bit here (Lancashire) today - sorry its still hot further south.

goodbyestranger · 21/06/2017 09:07

Poor DD Errol. Is Physics this morning or afternoon?

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2017 09:04

That's good, Liney.Smile** otoh, my sensible young woman appeared in my bedroom at 3am in the guise of a small child, sobbing that she'd been awake since one. So, after assuring her she would be fine, she was soothed much as if she really was a small child. I'm pretty certain that far from being detrimental to her 'resilience', she will learn from this that she can do an exam after poor sleep. Hoping this physics paper isn't now too much of a stinker though!

LineyWimey · 21/06/2017 07:39

A better night's sleep last night all round (windows shut, fan on, sheets instead of duvets), and so Physics awaits.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/06/2017 21:51

My DD has already turned in, and I'm under orders to keep the dog quiet and not clatter in the kitchen under her room. No revision - she knew she'd be tired after an afternoon exam so put the work in earlier. 6:15 alarm set, so if I had as much sense I'd turn in soon myself.

HSMMaCM · 20/06/2017 21:43

Dd is bringing her revision buddy home again tonight. I can't complain, because he makes her work hard and is a lovely guy, but ... it means I can't leave my bedroom door open and I have to wear pyjamas, so I'll be hot. I don't do hot, but I'm prepared to sacrifice my sanity for her exam results.

aginghippy · 20/06/2017 21:39

My DD said C3 was the worst maths exam she has ever done in her life. Later I was on the receiving end of a rant about how hard it was and what she did wrong. My motherly role was to listen sympathetically.

She seems in a better frame of mind now, revising with her friend for physics tomorrow.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/06/2017 20:58

I was just talking to DD again, her wry observation of eg StudentRoom is that everyone commenting there thinks they either have failed or that they have 100%.

Horsemad · 20/06/2017 20:31

Errol - my DS can be a bit defeatist, so I'm hoping he is imagining how dire it is!

Molly499 · 20/06/2017 19:10

Edexcel biology was aweful, just like the last paper is what I'm being told, roll on Monday and it will be over!

ErrolTheDragon · 20/06/2017 18:06

Everyone at his school thought it was hard but general consensus online was that it was ok.

my DD's take was that it was hard, but also ok because of grade boundaries, and silly mistakes being less important on a tough paper.
