DD has broken up now, but has a morning of psychology revision tomorrow morning at college.

Poor you ono. Sad Hope it doesn't go round the rest of the family. Well done on the new tie. No prefects in dc's school which is just as well considering what some of them bring into school!

bigTilly - they are so worn out. DD3 is now on Easter Holiday thank goodness.

bigTillyMint · 23/03/2016 17:40

DD came home in tears - bloody History tutor is making her redo an essay (nothing wrong with that, but he is not teaching her how to do any better, and is constantly negative) She is worn out and I am so glad they break up at lunchtime tomorrow. But am now desperately trying to find a History tutor in the hopes that she could actually be taught how to improve in his part of the course. Grrrrr!!!

No drama students in our house but (as seen from the above) no lack of drama!

T&T, I did A'level French. I had done French exchanges every year since I was 12, so was fluent. An exchange/stay in a Spanish family would be my no.1 suggestion, but that won't be possible before the AS levels. DS is on a great website called Memrise for GCSE French - perhaps there is something for A'level Spanish?

Well done ono's DSSmile

Sorry to hear about all the real life losses. It is tough enough coping with the day to day stuff let alone anything else.

I've been struck down by a vomiting bug - let's hope I don't give it to the rest of the family in time for the BH weekend.

Eric lol at your daughter's performance - had a similar thing once with my niece at drama school. Sitting there with my sister and mum, it was quite uncomfortable. I had to hope mum's hearing aid wasn't switched on!

Meanwhile DS has been made a prefect - he says he only went for it as they have nicer ties Confused

EricNorthmanSucks · 23/03/2016 11:47

I suppose I ought to get used to it if this is what DD wants to do with her life (act/write/direct).

And it has made me wonder what those close to me think when they read my work. I inhabit dark territory. Perhaps it's not comfortable for them?

TeenAndTween · 23/03/2016 10:50

DD did 'Bouncers' in y10. That was bad enough for me! They found her a more suitable piece for her GCSE performance, though for a couple of the plays done by others DD2 then age 10 needed to leave the room for when we went to watch a practice evening.

Any ideas how to help DD1 with AS Spanish grammar?

LineyReborn · 23/03/2016 10:16

My DD was in rather a challenging piece once, in sixth form. I was a bit Shock

HSMMaCM · 23/03/2016 07:15

Eric that explains something. DD and her friend were practicing their drama pieces and I offered to watch. I know DD's was something about being in an asylum, but she said I wouldn't want to watch his because it was Burkoff. Now I know why Grin

sugar kinda.

DD says there was swearing and sexual content. And I should have known that the story ( Greek queen falls in love with her step son and then tops herself) plus Sarah Kane ( brutal writer who eventually killed herself ) = close to the bone.

But I was not prepared for that. The Sound if Music it ain't.

CamboricumMinor · 23/03/2016 06:53

EricNorthman gosh, I'd have struggled with that too. I hope you had some warning, sounds like you didn't though.

SugarPlumTree · 23/03/2016 06:37

That must have been rather full on EricNorthman, had she warned you in advance ? Brew

LittlehamHums · 22/03/2016 22:46

Wine sounds like you need it EricNorthman

Sorry to hear about all the real life difficulties.

(and thanks for the reminder about Easter Eggs. Bad mother award goes to me for forgetting!)

EricNorthmanSucks · 22/03/2016 22:02

Can someone hand my a stiff drink?

I've just been to see DD's AS drama piece. Phaedra's Love by Sarah Kane in the style of Berkof!

Swearing ( including the C word), simulated sex, suicide! Watching my daughter ask someone 'when did you last have a fuck?' made me gulpShock.

SugarPlumTree · 22/03/2016 19:08

They were like 'brother and sister' apparently and any suggestion to the contrary was met with dramatics about how it would be like incest. It was however very obvious to the rest of us they were a bit freaked out about age difference and had strong feelings for each other as I just don't look at my Brother like that Grin

It's all complicated by the fact she met him in Japan last summer and he lives somewhere else in Europe. I have learned things are usually not straightforward with DD but that makes her what she is and the more I'm against something the more she wants to do it. I'm also pretty sure she will find a way to permantly emigrate somewhere in a few years.

bigTillyMint · 22/03/2016 16:15

Ah, so they were just tinging before, and now he's asked her to be his girlfriend? Well that's what happens round these parts these daysGrin I thought it sounded desperately uncool to ask if you would be his girlfriend, but apparently I'm out of dateGrin
And don't worry what people on the internet that you have never met think - trust your own judgement!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 22/03/2016 15:33

"upgraded (non) boyfriend" made me smile too Smile

SugarPlumTree · 22/03/2016 15:22

His 'non' status has finally bden dripped. . It is along time, only been a week before. He's in the spare room and we have a tiny landing with very squeaky floorboards .

I have to avoid those threads as there is a big age gap as well which us and them have had to come to terms with. I'd be absolutely hammered on some of the threads on here ! However I think without him she'd have dropped out of college by now and both DH and I do really like him. DS even comes out of his room when he's here so I try to focus on the positives.

bigTillyMint · 22/03/2016 14:58

SugarPlum, upgraded?Grin Hope they don't fall out - 3 weeks is a long time! and you'd better get over to the "would you allow your 16yo have their partner sleep over thread Wink

SugarPlumTree · 22/03/2016 14:54

But I'm not allowed to tell anyone so you didn't all know Wink

SugarPlumTree · 22/03/2016 14:53

Can't go wrong with a big Lindt egg ! Easter egg hunt sounds good too, I'd happily do that Grin We have the non boyfriend arriving at the weekend for 3 weeks. Except he isn't the non boyfriend any more, he's been upgraded.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 22/03/2016 14:34

That sounds good Liney Smile

You've reminded me I must look out for some eggs as we like to have an Easter egg hunt in the garden, especially as DD's birthday just coming up and she'd like that Chocolate

LineyReborn · 22/03/2016 14:15

Followed by a big Lindt egg at the weekend?!

bigTillyMint · 22/03/2016 14:09

Very sorry for all those suffering losses/difficult timesSadFlowers

Liney, I know new earphones would go down really well with DD.
