Only two more terms at school. Let's support each other support our DC in getting through to the end.

DS has Physics last on the 28th as well. He's got an interview for a summer job with a software house tomorrow (sounds very grown up!) and his Physics EMPA part 2 on Friday.

Warwick don't appear to have opened their accommodation choices yet. And Exeter don't take accommodation choices if only insurance, though I expect that's pretty universal. Except I think Exeter are more probable than Warwick. Wibble!

MorvahRising · 04/05/2016 23:18

That's odd, I posted and then a whole load of past posts appeared. iPad obviously gone a bit haywire. Very glad I haven't killed it!

28th June is our last exam too, physics.

MorvahRising · 04/05/2016 23:15

Eek! I seem to have killed the thread!

LIZS · 04/05/2016 19:13

Panic over, tracker now updated Smile

LIZS · 04/05/2016 18:27

Another q if anyone is there! Uni have replied to say they have updated the offer to unconditional (yeah!) but it isn't showing on UCAS tracker yet. Would there be a delay?

LIZS · 04/05/2016 12:37

DDay 1 is here - ds updated UCAS tracker last night and emailed admissions tutor to confirm the offer would be made unconditional. Now on to accommodation and finance.

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 03/05/2016 19:28

Ooooh helpful thread! Just popped in to DS's study to ask him if he has been asked to pay a deposit for chosen accommodation - he says not - have told to keep a weather eye on it!
Have younger DC doing GCSEs so tbh he has been our focus.

LIZS · 03/05/2016 18:27

Ucas deadline fast approaching and think we're finally nearly there! Whittled down to 2 but not 100% decided on the order. If ds firms the offer with a promise of it going unconditional , does he also need to name an insurance ? Confused

hellsbells99 · 01/05/2016 20:36

DD2 has finally firmed and insured her universities. Just realised that although DD1 and DD2 have chosen different firm choices, they will be moving in on the same weekend Shock
If DD2 doesn't get the grades for her 'firm', they may both be going to the same place!

hellsbells99 · 29/04/2016 00:09

It's going to be a long couple of months....

raspberryrippleicecream · 28/04/2016 22:57

Snap

hellsbells99 · 28/04/2016 19:39

Last exam on the 28th June for DD as well - physics.

Leeds2 · 28/04/2016 18:20

That is a huge ga between first and last exam, Needs. Must admit, I have never heard of an international A Level!

Needmoresleep · 28/04/2016 18:04

The first A level is a week on Monday. (What is an international A level anyway - don't know but my daughter is doing one, which is possibly why it is so early.) Last is 28 June. It is going to be a long two months.

I hope all the EMPAs are going well. DS has the practical for his physics EMPA tomorrow. He's doing a lot of past papers for maths but perhaps not enough actual revision for physics.

hellsbells99 · 26/04/2016 09:19

Good luck for your DCs' physics Empas today. DD has her chemistry Empa today and part 2 of physics on Thursday, then a week's grace before the written Empa papers.

raspberryrippleicecream · 25/04/2016 19:33

Physics EMPA here tomorrow also, Morvah. DS seems fairly calm tonight though

MorvahRising · 25/04/2016 19:24

Physics EMPA here tomorrow so much gloom and despondency! Although he seems more worried about his driving test on Wednesday.

Leeds2 · 22/04/2016 16:37

Indeed, good on her uni for agreeing to defer.

The daughter of a friend of mind got a paid job in A&E for a year, before embarking on a nursing degree. I am not sure what her exact job title was, but something like auxiliary/nursing auxiliary. I know part of her role involved things like booking people in, but she did also get some medical experience.

SecretSquirrils · 22/04/2016 15:25

I think that sounds like a good plan for her NMS and good on the uni for agreeing.
A young man I know was rejected by all his med school applications and so had an enforced gap year. He got stunning A level results and was offered a place at all four places he applied to post A level.
In his year off he got a (paid) job as a receptionist in a walk in clinic. A place that catered for all sorts from minor ops to occupational therapy to out of hours GPs.

Needmoresleep · 22/04/2016 14:44

Not for me. DD has decided to defer her place. Its been a long year, not least because she was very ill last summer, and I think she just wants to catch her breath. The University are kindly allowing her to do this.

She wants to do a ski season then some substantive (medical) work experience. Ideas are welcome.

One small advantage is that she will get a chance to look round the accommodation before deciding.

Hello all.
Only 5 more weeks at college and DS leaves at half term on study leave. He's finished the curriculum in all subjects as of today so it's all revision from now on. He still hasn't got round to looking at accommodation but applications don't open until 5th May.

For those of you who haven't already got DC at uni there is usually a very, very long thread on Higher Ed about what-to-take-to-uni. Littlham has LISTS Wink

We'll soon be needing a "Freshers of 2016" on HEd as well Grin.

Needmoresleep · 22/04/2016 13:36

Luckily DD was required to complete the maths coursework last term. There is still one coursework left but she tells me it is close to completion.

The first exam is only four weeks away. Poor DD has both the first and last exam in the timetable so she has weeks and weeks of it.

I love the suit.

Thanks Leeds2.
DD is doing Edexcel. Maths is the one subject I am not worrying about unlike physics.
Physics Empa part 1 today.

raspberryrippleicecream · 22/04/2016 01:08

DS1 had Maths coursework too, no idea which board
He seemed to think went OK. Physics Empa next Tuesday.
