DS will be starting secondary school in September and will be doing rugby in pe for the first time. Can anyone recommend any rugby boots suitable for an 11 year old which aren't going to break the bank please? Also, he needs a mouth guard, do these come in different sizes? Or is it one size fits all?! Thanks

Electrolux - I know the feeling. Thought we were doing so well as we've got all the 'school branded' uniform. Then I started to look at the other stuff. I really think we should've started this shopping earlier!

Electrolux - DS came home with the same leaflet. Told him I don't like him enough to spend that much on him! Grin. I did mention it to my nephew who said 'I played with a £10 one from sports direct for years and I've still got my own teeth'!!

LIZS - have double checked the kit list and it just says rugby boots. I'm surprised they don't 'suggest' a brand/type of studs. They do with most other things!

Will hit sports direct at the weekend and see what they have. Thanks all Smile

We bought DSS a pair of Patrick rugby boots for £19.99 from Sports Direct. My DB who used to be a big rugby player said that was an excellent price for a quality pair of boots.

Try sports direct. They do shockdoctor mouthguards which come in junior and senior sizes. Check what sort of studs are required for the boots, they may recommend a particular brand.

Umbro do fairly sturdy rugby boots for a reasonable price (available from Sports Direct).

Try if you can, to get the metal studs (rather than plastic moulded ones) because they last much longer, and the individual studs can be tightened/replaced.

Gum shields normally come in small/med/large with an approx age guide, but as you'll need to soak them in hot water and mould them to the gum, you can't go too far wrong really.
