Thank you all. Not sure why he is suddenly back on foods but the same happened with MIL so not a bit surprise. DH coping very well in the circumstances. Ono I can't start to imagine what that was like for you Flowers

We made it to Amsterdam today and DD was in her element taking photos for her summer Art project. Never been before, it was very educational ..

Witch I'd be very tempted not to let her know too! Think Errol has hit the nail on the head as to how to handle her.

auntpetunia · 12/08/2015 20:53

He's back!

HSMMaCM · 12/08/2015 20:52

Good luck tomorrow A level people.

SPT - sending hugs your way about FIL. We had that earlier in the year with MIL who had dementia. After removal of fluids she died a week later, pretty horrible time for us all really, especially as I had to have a breast biopsy in the middle of it all and was waiting for results. Good luck to your DD for tomorrow's A2s.

DS came back from Tanzania last week, spent the entire week seeing friends and I've just dropped him off at the airport as he is off on holiday with his cousins. I've almost forgotten what he looks like. Still, at least it means I am the only one who is nervous about next week! We haven't even had the "arrangements for what time to pick up results" conversation!

bigTillyMint · 11/08/2015 21:09

WitchAngry @ your MIL. How thoughtless.

ErrolEnvy at non-Kevin-like DD! Though DD has been 95% lovely this holiday, especially when meeting DHs old friends/family friends/out in public. 3 weeks en famille 24/7 is pretty full on!

SPT, hope you can switch off from worrying about the oldies and relax tooSmile

ErrolTheDragon · 11/08/2015 20:55

Text her but expressing how well your DD has done whatever the results.

WitchofScots · 11/08/2015 20:49

SugarPlum that's pretty much what we have been doing. Sorry that your holiday is not relaxing :(
AIBU to forget to text MIL with the results for a couple of days?! Grin

SugarPlumTree · 11/08/2015 16:21

Thanks Errol. We'll going to grab some dinner now and hoping to get to Amsterdam tomorrow so hopefully will end on a good note Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 11/08/2015 15:51

Oh sugar, what a shame - you really deserve a nice relaxing holiday.

SugarPlumTree · 11/08/2015 15:17

I'd reinforce the whole different people/different things thing as much as possible and big up anything you can that she does outside school. Plus get DH to have a quiet word in MIL's ears explaining that GCSE marking keeps changing and already this year there have been issue with Maths in Scotland with the Highers being too hard (I didn't dream that did I?) so you're all trying to play it down as it is anyone's guess what will happen with this year's GCSE results

Glad DH and DD having a good time Errol, though sorry you're not with them.

I'd rather be at home now to be honest, we had mice and spent the whole day yesterday and unpacking as moved cottage. FIL now not on sips of water only so will have to face the whole final days thing again in the near future and my Brother emailed this morning to say he wants to take my Mother off her Dementia meds as she is very paranoid ad being very nasty to her carers. Not conducive to a relaxing holiday but am not surprised, it has been a very challenging year so far.

WitchofScots · 11/08/2015 14:50

Errol it wouldn't have been an issue until MIL (don't get me started....) told DD that she must be hoping for good grades like X got Angry

ErrolTheDragon · 11/08/2015 14:28

Ah, right. Must be hard if they see it as pressure rather than inspiration/example (if they're even bothered at all).

WitchofScots · 11/08/2015 14:14

SugarPlum yes, that's what she's finding hard as a relative has been doing a part time degree and just graduated with a first when they've had a family to look after. It's made DD feel that she should get top grades Hmm

WitchofScots · 11/08/2015 14:12

Errol, forgot to say, no, not an older sibling just another relative.

WitchofScots · 11/08/2015 14:11

I know Exmoor yes, I'd be Envy too. It's bad enough being home from holiday as it is, I want to go back there even though home is in a pleasant place too.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/08/2015 14:02

Witch - does that mean that congratulations to an older sib are in order?

DH and DD called me from half way round today's walk, which will end at the Selworthy tea rooms (if you know the Exmoor area at all you'll know why I'm just a bit Envy). They had an awful journey down, so not sorry to have missed that - though apparently DD was delightfully chatty. Never mind GCSEs, having a 16yo who isn't a perpetual 'Kevin' is pleasing enough! Grin

SugarPlumTree · 11/08/2015 13:15

Quite a trek home isn't it AP DD hasn't fared very well with jet lag and only just getting back into more of a routine. Still in daily contact with new friends she made out there.

That is tough when they feel they have a lot to live up to WitchofScots and I think hard as a parent Flowers

WitchofScots · 11/08/2015 12:28

DD is full of nerves now, we've had the university results and now she feels that she has a lot to live up to :(

auntpetunia · 11/08/2015 12:19

Wow Brilliant news SPT, DS is now officially on route home though he won't get here till 6 PM tomorrow, doubt GCSES have crossed his mind. Me....yep getting nervous. BTM enjoy the bliss.

SugarPlumTree · 11/08/2015 11:59

Thanks BTM Smile Hope you are having a lovely time and feel nice and chilled.

bigTillyMint · 11/08/2015 11:06

That's fab SPT! Fingers crossed she sorted the music.

We are still on holiday and results day seems a bit unreal (to me at least!)

SugarPlumTree · 11/08/2015 10:34

Delighted bless her ! I'm a bit worried she messed up with the music copyright licence thing and will have to withdraw it but nothing we can do from here at the moment and will deal with that later.

Horsemad · 11/08/2015 10:28

Wow SPT, that's exciting Smile Even better that you can go to this one, bet she's thrilled!

SugarPlumTree · 11/08/2015 10:17

DD's film has been accepted to be screened at another film festival, a UK one this time that we'll be able to go to. She's got to check she did change the music when we get home though due to the whole licensing thing as she can't remember annoyingly. This is boosting her confidence nicely and making up for the disaster that were her GCSE's.

spudmasher · 11/08/2015 08:27

All the very best for those expecting A level results.

We are back to eggshell treading here, a la GCSE weeks. At least we've had some practise. Nerves are also rising about starting college.
