He's not 16 for a few weeks. He thinks that puts him at a disadvantage as all the jobs will be gone.

Horsemad · 21/06/2015 09:54

We're out in the sticks but I'll drive DS to a job if he gets one. There's no way he's going on a moped. Shock

We're not too far from a couple of villages where he might get a job so hopefully he'll get sorted.

Sparklingbrook · 21/06/2015 09:38

We are rural ish poppy. So transport to non existent job needs to be doable. My friend suggested a moped. Gulp.

poppym12 · 21/06/2015 09:36

Finished here too but I'm pretty sure some posters still have one or two left.

Ds out again last night too and I'm also wondering about finding some summer work sparkling. we live in a pretty rural area so there's not anywhere local for him to ask about jobs.

Sparklingbrook · 21/06/2015 09:12

Hi all. More lovely pics Smile DS was out last night and all the talk was about getting part time jobs. But where to start? He's in a better mood but still slobbing around not doing a great deal.

Ashbeeee · 21/06/2015 08:31

shard no more exams here.

Am being really mean by making both DC get up early a) to do breakfast for their dad (fathers day) and b) making them go to a baptism of my mates baby. The last one we went to was high church and lasted 2 hours. Being godless heathens like their parents they are not impressed. Think they are going to enjoy it though as the vicar (a friend) is the campest man ever and hugely entertaining.

Happy Sunday everyone

Shard11 · 21/06/2015 04:54

Anybody still have DC doing exams? DD has Italian tomorrow, but I think that may be the last?

ErrolTheDragon · 20/06/2015 21:47

So, it was rainy and a bit foggy but there was a nice wind picking up a bit in the afternoon so DD and I spent her first day of freedom sailing and windsurfing. You don't notice drizzle if you're wet anyway. Grin It was great and we're both nicely physically knackered.

She looked at various peoples FB prom pictures this morning and didn't seem the least bit sorry she hadn't gone. Rather horrified by some of the heels! Horses for courses.

poppym12 · 20/06/2015 15:49

Ds has another get together tonight. he looked pretty tired today so I'm expecting him to be fit for nothing from tomorrow onwards whilst he catches up on rest. paranoid that he will be swigging some alcohol wrapped in a paper bag whilst sat on a park bench because he was out last night too

BackforGood · 20/06/2015 12:27

dd Finished yesterday - fortunately she thought it was a bit easier than Monday's paper. Smile

Seems a bit deflated now though - she doesn't want to go to the prom, so that's it really.....

HSMMaCM · 20/06/2015 12:11

I suspect DD has had no sleep. She's back at dancing now though Grin

Anyone else's dc still asleep? Dd has had 13 hours so far Smile

HSMMaCM · 20/06/2015 10:50

DD took j2o to her party. I know there will be alcohol. She has had an alcopop and a cocktail at previous parties, but isn't that fussed about alcohol and doesn't like wine or beer. I just told her to be careful.

Horsemad · 20/06/2015 10:28

Yes, I'd rather he took some beer than drank spirits, he's a sensible lad and is a fitness freak so has always refused alcohol so hopefully all will be good!

TheWordFactory · 20/06/2015 10:05

DS doesn't go to parties or drink. Just not his bag ( though I'm aware these things can change).

DD likes socialising and dancing etc so has been to a few. But she doesn't drink either because, frankly, she's nervous.

I wouldn't have strong feelings if she did drink. And would certainly advocate beers over vodka. Just currently she's not feeling it. And her mates all seem to respect that so all good.

bigTillyMint · 20/06/2015 09:25

Gymnastics, Errol. Did it from 5, has been coaching for a couple of years - it's a fantastic clubSmile

TWF, sounds like a perfect night.

Poppy, we would rather DD takes a couple of cans of cider than goes to buy a bottle of voddy to take (they always swig whatever they are offered anyway) And it's not like the parties are every night - she has probably only ever been to about 5 or 6 "proper" parties, though I am sure there are more to come. Gulp.

auntpetunia · 20/06/2015 09:09

Well I'm wide awake again and have been for a few hours. DS on the other hand is snoring like a wart hog and I doubt we'll see him this side of mid day.

No mad party here last night but he was up shooting klingons till gone midnight. (Normally chase him off about 9,30 when dd goes to bed but let him play last night) his plans yesterday where to sleep today, go shopping with me tomorrow for prom shoes and check his suit still fits, he also needs a few bits for Japan.

Monday he's 16 and him and his mates are going the beach if the weather is nice, we might go out for a meal in the evening, but he's not sure yet. Even if they have a party he doesn't drink anything other than j20 and that's not just me being blinkered mum thinking he's an angel. He hates fizzy drinks has never drunk coke or lemonade, so beer and larger is out, he tried shots at the last 16th he went to but said they made him feel like the morphine did at the hospital when he hurt his hand and he hated that, hated being out of control. Fingers crossed he stays like this, totally unlike his mother who enjoyed several Wine last night. When he gets up he is going to sort his pit out, I've let it slide when he was revising but now, I need my cutlery and cup's back.

Enjoy the freedom peeps, and for anyone who is still going. Good luck.

poppym12 · 20/06/2015 08:36

Ds went to a one of many party last night but I picked him up at 10pm. Most odd but I think tonight's is an all-nighter. I bought him a few bottles of lager. what a terrible mother I am. rather that than swigging spirits obtained by others though.

TheWordFactory · 20/06/2015 08:26

I must confess to a few nerves about last nights party! 150 16 year olds in post exam euphoria and the parents in question though lovely are fairly relaxed.

But actually when I turned up to collect there were lots of hired security guys patrolling the car park and party.

No alcohol served ( though no doubt some took it with them ).

DD greatly enjoyed.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/06/2015 08:24

What sort of coaching, Tilly?
Great they can get back to their passions now (including sleepingWink)

Horsemad · 20/06/2015 07:54

Yep, I've been spoiled by DS1 not wanting to party haven't I?! Smile

bigTillyMint · 20/06/2015 07:43

I know. And I was just like DD when I was young - always up for itGrin
It does get a teeny bit easier once they've been to a couple and come back in one piece. But you do still worry.

Horsemad · 20/06/2015 07:37

You're right BTM, it's hard letting go. I always vowed I wouldn't be clingy but I don't like this phase!!

bigTillyMint · 20/06/2015 07:32

It is a bit scary, Horse! But I guess they are 16 or nearly in DD's case...

Horsemad · 20/06/2015 07:27

Don't know what type of party it is. Haven't had this with older one, he's quite quiet and reserved but DS2 will be a party animal!! Not used to this... Smile
