DD must be the only one that never went out last night lol. Just wanted to reflect, talk to some old friends on line and catch up on sleep.
To be fair, did have her 18th birthday celebrations earlier in wee (good decision there, thanks fir tips in that) but hardly drunk then. Not eaten or slept much for at least a week though. Plans to stay in tonight too, just wants a home cooked meal.

Wondering why she's a bit miffed to find she's been allocated what seems to be a quieter part of the halls.

Decorhate · 14/08/2015 08:10

Reckon it was close to 5 before dd and her friends got in. Hope she had a good night in spite of everything.

eatyourveg · 14/08/2015 08:04

cathcustard · 14/08/2015 07:58

We had pre drinks prinks apparently here too last night.
I forgave them drinking all our booze and shouting in the garden at 1am because they were all so happy & excited. A couple got lower than predicted but still got in to their first choice, two got into insurance. One poor lad is still waiting to hear from his first choice, they promised to let him know by 7pm but never did.

hellsbells99 · 14/08/2015 07:45

DD had approx 20 of her friends round for pre-drinks last night and it was lovely chatting to them finding out where they are going etc. Only 2 were disappointed with their grades but had already planned gap years so they have sorted themselves out and adjusted plans slightly. Some had missed their offers but got in to uni anyway so were very happy. They were all on such a high. I threw them out at 10pm and off they went into town. I did hear DD and a couple of friends crashing back through the front door in the early hours - I think they will feel very rough today Wink

Excellent news tapdancingmum - a good day for you all, indeed!

Dd1 also out but unfortunately for my nerves they don't come home until the first train of a morning which is now-ish! And she's not even coming here but straight to boyfriends, I won't see her til Saturday, very briefly then she's off again. I think she's in training for burning the candle at both ends next year!

Mine is also out on the lash/celebrating. Quite right too!

Boss's daughter is too despite tanking spectacularly in 1 of her subjects and underperforming in 1 other so won't even get anything decent in clearing. All that and a very expensive private education. Bright girl but lazy.

AmazingDisgrace · 14/08/2015 00:05

Brilliant news tapdancingmum hope it keeps on being good

My Mum passed away unexpectedly 10days ago whilst we were on holiday so our good A Level results news is very much tinged with sadness. She would have been so proud of DD.

Please don't anyone feel that they have to commiserate with me. This should be a thread about our children's results not my bloody inconvenient mother Wink

tapdancingmum · 13/08/2015 23:38

DD has gone out with the group that she is closest to. Thankfully she has remembered her house key so I can go to bed shortly and not have to wait up for her.

Another piece of good news is that my DH has had the all clear following his radiotherapy so it looks like he may have kicked the cancer for the time being. His next check up is in 3 months then scans 3 months after that so we are not saying he has beaten it as I don't think you can ever really say that so a good day for us all today Grin

Cooroo my DD is going to Huddersfield, it was her firm choice, she loved it there when she looked around :)

Yeah, mine's out tonight with most of her year group I think!!

I'm sitting here doing an illegible list excel spreadsheet of what we need to get, as she goes in FOUR weeks Confused

Just tried to listen to Slipping through my Fingers, didn't get through the first line before I was bawling like a baby.

She's up and down like a roller coaster and I'm affected by her moods! We just had a good chat and made each other laugh. I'm going to miss her!

Fairenuff · 13/08/2015 20:14

We had two non-RG uni's on the back up list for today in case dd didn't meet her grades. She said she would rather be studying and taking steps towards her career than having a gap year. RG really is not the be all, doing the subject you are interested in is more important. After all, they can always go on to do a Masters at an RG uni if it's that important.

JWIM · 13/08/2015 20:13

Cooroo my DD has several friends who have missed their firm and are now going for their insurance university or clearing so not unusual at all. It is a terribly hard day for students and it does take time to let feelings settle. Hugs to you both.

Littleham · 13/08/2015 19:50

Cooroo DD witnessed lots of teenagers being led out of the school hall in floods of tears. Some of them don't have place tonight.

I'm not sure MN is entirely representative and there are lots of people that struggle in clearing. One of dd's best friends was distraught today.
