DS will survive at Uni - he has made SuperNoodles today! Grin
I can rest easy now Smile

duffcake · 09/08/2015 18:28

Thanks Littleham I think Wine is the only answer Grin

Littleham · 09/08/2015 18:23

duffcake - Wine Wine I hope it all works out and they don't end up at the same one (although it would be easy on drop offs if that happens).

NC. I've got DTs & I'm dreading Thursday.
DT1's insurance is DT2's firm but they don't want to go to the same Uni.
Will we celebrate if one succeeds and one doesn't, what if they both fail?
They're so different academically I just can't begin to think about all the permutations.
DT1 is busy trying to see what he might have as a back up if Clearings the option, DT2 (who has re sat 2 ASs and is the one I should be most worried about) doesn't seem to have a care.
And it's only Sunday

DS is number 3 and I thankfully never have to go through this again. I just have a constant stressed feeling which isn't helped by the fact that I'm starting a new job on the 17th. I think the next few days will be lots of Brew, Cake and Wine

circular · 09/08/2015 14:16

Gypsy Sometimes even the best family planning falls apart. Not sure if I've said before that August born DD1 was born so early that she.ended up in the previous school year. Due November, so would have thought plenty contingency. Hmm At least I'm grey already.

AtiaoftheJulii · 09/08/2015 14:00

I'm trying to be glad that it's reasonably early this year - will have to wait till the 18th next year!

Apart from that, yes, wishing the next three days away. Dd1 is house-sitting atm, so a dry run for us all of her being away. She has come home for dinner twice, her sisters have both been over to stay the night with her, and we're all missing each other!

GypsyFloss · 09/08/2015 11:32

Yes MrsBartlett that is exactly how I feel and I can't even say it out loud 'cos it makes me wobbly.

Littleham you'll be grey by the end! When they ask on the baby threads about summer and winter born babies perhaps we should be warning parents to look at exam spacing instead! I wrote my dissertation as Dd sat her GCSE's and I thought that was tough going but this year's double exam whammy has topped that by a country mile!

If I wish my life away I will fast forward by years as I have one starting GCSE's next year and another starting A Levels. Sad

Wishing my life away here, too Gypsy. Ironically, if dd does get in I will want time to slow down as I don't want to face the reality of her not being here every day!

GypsyFloss · 09/08/2015 10:20

We're home from holidays and Dd is a little less stressed now she's back in her own bed. I'm catching up on the laundry and wishing my life away Grin

Horsemad · 09/08/2015 10:18

I remember reading a TSR thread from the night before A level results last year Shock

OMG, the tension was palpable; can't believe we're almost in the same place now!

MrsBartlet · 09/08/2015 08:44

Thanks for the link muffin. I read about the first 10 pages until I found a couple of people who missed their offers for Cambridge and still got in. Please let it be Thursday now - I feel like time has slowed down Grin

circular · 09/08/2015 06:44

Muffin Some quite positive outcomes in that thread.
Just praying its not given DD too much false hope.

Horsemad · 08/08/2015 22:03

muffin monster, I read that thread. All of it. My nerves are shredded Grin

hellsbells99 · 08/08/2015 20:00

Littleham - DD is currently round a friends house baking....great minds obviously think alike Grin

Littleham · 08/08/2015 19:56

La la la argh

Cooking is the distraction of choice. Our house is groaning with chocolate brownies, cake, home made bread and assorted savoury offerings. Shame we are 5 hours away from the chosen university otherwise culinary bribes might be attempted.

If this goes on much longer I will explode (from eating too much). Roll on Thursday.

All together now....hands over our ears...... "la la la la" and then hit the Wine!
Reality does not need to be faced for another 5 days Hmm

HocusUcas · 08/08/2015 18:34

I know exactly what you mean. Increasingly the realism is creeping in.

HocusUcas · 08/08/2015 18:33

Muffin - this made me laugh.

I have been feeling irrationally hopeful about R-Day for the past couple of weeks. I think it's because thinking realistically is so unpleasant. I did try it for a few minutes but I came over all trembly.

muffinmonster · 08/08/2015 11:19

For anyone who's struggling to keep the dream alive, this thread makes very cheering reading.

hellsbells99 · 07/08/2015 21:55

Mumslife - coming from 'up North', UEA is over 4.5 hours drive from us and even longer by train. But loved both the uni and Norwich. DD ended up applying for mainly Midlands/Northern universities although did apply for Bath (but didn't choose it in her final two).

Headofthehive55 · 07/08/2015 21:16

Gypsy if she feels Durham is important then I agree a gap year sounds good. My DD took her insurance, which was exactly the same course. There is still a lot of unresolved angst.

Littleham · 07/08/2015 20:54

Definitely check track first. Saves a lot of angst.

Santander wouldn't open dd1's student account last year until she could take in her confirmation of achieving her place letter from the university.

I would like mood lighting installed at home ready for results day. Wink
