Spud my DD says to go on youtube and type in B1 OCR Biology GCSE channel name NottsAST , and there are others.

DD says she is going to look. I've now added the TSR thread to the router list of blocked sites!

DD is in such a bad mood.....
She is currently claiming she's not going in for biology tomorrow because it will be too hard and she hasn't been taught anything, she doesn't know anything so it's pointless.
Nothing I can say is right.
I'm looking for some advice online about bits to focus on/ that always come up, but if can't find anything. Wondering if it's worth a shout out thread to a science teacher about GCSE twenty first century science OCR Biology A paper....

The link is so funny OddBoots, especially the Hannah / Sweets comments. At least they haven't lost their sense of humour (which is probably just as important in life as maths).

Collected DD and she said had a spare 5 minutes at the end of Maths AQA so "revised" it for me to report on MN.

Found it easier than expected up to page 15, the last 3 pages were really hard but they are apparently A* questions which she wasn't expecting to be able to answer easily anyway.
Most of the cohort found it better than expected but with some harder than usual questions.

I didn't reply to your thread Sunny as felt it would warrent a thread in it's own right. Sorry you felt overlooked.

DD is not a high achiever in accademic subjects but I make sure I boast about her other talents

DS has Chemistry tomorrow.....I had a great chat with DS2 just now, who told me DS1 invited him up to a classroom at lunchtime (one of the teachers lets DS1 and a few friends use his class room at lunchtimes) to give him a ride on a trolley (!), but after a while, DS1 and his friends were "revising out of booklets" and wouldn't play with DS2 anymore - so some independent revision has been done, even for just 5 minutes!

DD is in a foul mood. Said the edexcel maths paper was impossible as the questions were like nothing she has ever seen before (and she has done a lot of past papers) and that there is now no point in revising for any more exams.
She has Biology 1 tomorrow, like Errols DD.

Biology tomorrow for my DD too (AQA unit 1). She was reading the revision guide in the sunshine this afternoon - I think I was more pleased about her actually being outside for a change!

I've not actually seen the non calc paper yet (just the tweets about Hannah's sweets!) so I can't comment on how reliable it looks.

Had a look in dd's room today & found...

• two bowls
• all my missing spoons
• half of my knives and forks
• a festering thermos flask (tipped over on carpet)
• 3 cups
• assorted soft drinks bottles
• a glass (!) luckily with water in it.
• bin bag full of rubbish
• all her clothes that 'I had lost'.

I am holding off on the lecture until the end of next week (but only just)

Music and Biology exams tomorrow.

My ds did the seemingly infamous Edexcel higher GCSE maths - he has been made to feel a lot better about it by reading the twitter.com/hashtag/EdexcelMaths timeline.

Sunny, glad you're feeling a bit better now - is your DD ok? She must have been in a real funk to bottle out, poor kid.

DD said the maths ( non igcse Edexcel) was hard, quite lot of her friends couldn't do several questions at all and that's at a GS. She was thrown by one on probability which she said was different to anything she'd come across - she's since realised how to do it and is a bit annoyed with herself. Probability problems are like that , easy if you know how and impossible otherwise.

BTM Yep Edexcel maths here. Have had a more in depth conversation with ds over chippy tea! he said up to about question 17/18 was standard b/c grade work then normally ie on past papers your get a few A questions and the last 2 are A but after speaking to the maths head after he'd looked at the paper sir said that from 17/18 was a so as long as they did all the previous well and got all the marks then a B is possible. DS struggles with maths but has worked to be a solid B gra de so hoping the maths teacher is right. Seeing as I've known the maths teacher since infants I am inclined to believe him..

Thank you noble for that information I've passed it to DS who just grunted thst sorn would sort it as he's got revision on Saturday morning. He's given up on biology and is back to his favourite activity of killing klingons.

noblegiraffe, thanks for that very useful information. DD is doing Edexcel higher papers and has never had much confidence with maths, although she's better than she believes she is! If you know of any more "definitely revise for paper 2" topics to go with the quadratic equations, I'd really appreciate some guidance. Just a couple of "YES - I can do this!!!" questions in the exam will make such a difference.
