Thanks Tilly, I hadn't though of PMT.
All seems calm in the Dingit household too (the calm before the storm springs to mind). So much so, we broached the subject of trying on her prom dress just to check it fits ok, and she even conceded that she may use a little fake tan on her legs. ( she is quite a pale blonde, so difficult to pull off without looking like a satsuma)

HSMMaCM · 02/05/2015 20:04

DD seems less worried than me that her first GCSE paper is so soon. It'll all be over in just over a month.

She has a friend coming over to revise tomorrow. I hope they do.

bigTilly - if you are quick could you get her prescribed the pill ? Even if just for exams if you/she isn't keen for her to take it longer term? It's been a weight off our mind for DD who has been using it for around 18months to sort out heavy issues.

DD received a good luck postcard from one of her 6th form colleges yesterday. I wonder if the others will send them too? Considering how big it is it must cost them £1000+ to send them all out!

auntpetunia · 02/05/2015 16:56

Oh chicken pox us nasty when your older as well. Girl in my school was like woolybacks friend in and exams in insolation and similarly with the pregnant girl...again nuns thought we might all catch babies.

So glad I don't have to think about PMT with DS I just have to have enough carbohydrate and juice in the house to keep him fed.

bigTillyMint · 02/05/2015 15:44

Well that's if she comes on next week as she thinks she should!

bigTillyMint · 02/05/2015 15:44

I got chicken pox at 22 - after a final teaching practice, thankfully not during exams!

Do any of your DD's suffer with PMT/periods? Looks like DD might have that joy during the exams after half term

Littleham · 02/05/2015 14:54

That must have been terrible. I had chicken pox when I was sixteen and it was horrific (luckily after the exams in my case).

Best to stay away from friend for a while just in case.

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/05/2015 14:53

One of my friends had chicken pox when we were taking our OLevels (JMB iirc) She was brought into school each exam day by a teacher and did her exams in isolation to avoid infecting any of us.

The same thing was done for another one of my friends who was pregnant - because y'know pregnancy is contagious. Hmm convent school

dingit · 02/05/2015 14:51

She has had chicken pox, but I caught shingles when I was 16!

Littleham · 02/05/2015 14:50

How awful. Chicken pox at this time! Hope your dd has already had when she was little dingit.

bigTillyMint · 02/05/2015 14:41

Eek, poor thingSad

Glad your DD has her timetable HSM. At last!

dingit · 02/05/2015 14:34

Just found out that dd's best mate has chicken pox Hmm she doesn't go to the same school, so dd hasn't seen her for a couple of weeks thank goodness. Not sure what the poor girl will do about her exams.

HSMMaCM · 02/05/2015 11:44

DD has her final exam timetable. All the days on the draft timetable were correct, but a couple of times have changed slightly. Her 'special arrangements' have all been taken into account, which is a weight off her mind.

Even BTECs...which would explain why so many people have dropped out of DS's BTEC sports class because they were getting low grades. DS will scrape a pass, because he really can't stand the teacher, but I've been encouraging him to keep on with it. He still has something else to do on it a "first attempt" as though the teacher presumes a second attempt will be necessary Hmm. Not sure what it is though; communication is not the teachers strong point, which I find really strange. Confused

OddBoots · 02/05/2015 10:05

Yes, they will be on different certificates. It is worth noting that they all have to be declared to UCAS if applying to university, even BTECs.

LynetteScavo · 02/05/2015 08:56

So if the boards are mixed do they get various certificates?

I'm presuming DSs BTEC sport will be on a different certificate. So does he which is why he could care less about it....

I was first year of GCSEs - my teachers didn't have a clue what they were doing - so glad its very different for DS.

dingit · 02/05/2015 08:45

The o level thing makes us all a similar age. Dds 16 year old boyfriends dm is 10 years younger than me! I haven't met her yet, and I'm not sure I want to!

TheWordFactory · 02/05/2015 07:40

I'm so old I took O levels. The board was JMB I think.

My view on predictions is that they are just that. A best case guess made by a teacher.

SugarPlumTree · 02/05/2015 03:02

I looked at my O level certificate a couple of year's ago and can't properly remember, think they were Cambridge and no idea what A level was.

DS will be doing the new style number graded GCSE's when it's his turn in 5 years time. I was one of the last years to do O level and my Brother who is 5 years younger did GCSE's.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/05/2015 00:02

IIRC all my O-levels were Cambridge and so were A-levels except for Nuffield chemistry which was quite a new thing then.

DD has mostly AQA with I think one OCR and one excedel , and I think the chemistry and the FM are some sort of igcse. The mix of boards may explain one of the badly clashing days.

auntpetunia · 01/05/2015 22:44

Ha dingit in my case it's coz it's sooooooo long ago!

dingit · 01/05/2015 21:12

Maybe it's a bit like childbirth, you erase certain details from your memory.

bigTillyMint · 01/05/2015 20:38

JMB

bigTillyMint · 01/05/2015 20:36

I know I did different exam boards for different subjects - JMN and Nuffield ring a bell!

dingit · 01/05/2015 20:31

Yeah I know Tilly, but I thought mine were all the same. It was a long time ago though!
