Mocks this week, and the reality of AS exams in a few months is starting to hit home. I don't think it will be an easy journey, so would welcome some company.

Signing in - we have history and maths on Wednesday. Chemistry EMPA was not a happy experience but Biology was ok. I feel completely churned up tbh. Only seems like 5 minutes since the poor kid did GCSE and now here we are again. The house is covered in post it notes for history essay plans. Her room is literally plastered in mind maths and she's been working so, so hard. She wants to do Medicine though so it has to be good. Can't bear to think about results day - and then we have to do it all again! Aaaargh!

AtiaoftheJulii · 10/05/2015 19:30

Blimey, tough week for your dc LimeFizz Hope it goes as well as it can do. Is that everything, or does it carry on the week after?

Not that anyone else's sound much better. Good luck all round Star Dd2's busy week isn't until next week.

Ooooh, same here...
DS seems relatively chilled, only one exam this week, Maths on Thursday...

Marni23 · 10/05/2015 17:17

Latin here tomorrow too. Then History on Wednesday and Philosophy on Thursday. DS has a cold and have tried to make sure he stays well away from DD, and am dosing her up with Vitamin C and honey in a desperate attempt to keep her well!

GentlyBenevolent · 10/05/2015 17:08

DD1 has geography on Tuesday, history on Wednesday, then Geog and english on Friday. 4 out of 6 papers in the first week! Then she just has the second history next week, and music after half term (plus GS A2 after that).

She seems fine right now but DD2 has a terrible cough, looks and sounds really rough. Hoping Dd1 will not get it but...fearing the worst.

AtiaoftheJulii · 10/05/2015 16:23

A history paper for dd2 on Wednesday. Dh just set up a table and desktop pc in her room today as the revision materials were taking over the kitchen, no one could eat at the table and the younger ones couldn't do their homework! We have A3 mindmaps all over the house, but at least they're on the walls and don't take up space! History likely to be her worst subject so she's nervous.

Vitamins all round here, and I've stocked up on painkillers and cold remedies. Dd1 got tonsillitis during GCSEs; that was fun Hmm Hope your ds feels better tomorrow LIZ

Leeds2 · 10/05/2015 16:06

DD's first exam is geography on Tuesday.

LIZS · 10/05/2015 16:05

Latin tomorrow and Ds has a cold.

SecretSquirrels · 10/05/2015 15:43

EMPA went well here so a good dress rehearsal for the real exams.
DS kicks off with C1 on Wednesday.

MorvahRising · 06/05/2015 22:11

Great news about the kitten Smile and the Spanish and music exams!

hellsbells hope the EMPA went OK and DD feels better.

limefizz the C4 paper is (I think) a further maths one. What possessed us at the time to agree to DS doings maths and further maths I can't imagine, but everyone who got an A at GCSE got put in that group and he really wanted to do it. His teachers say he is perfectly able to do the work, but he gets incredibly anxious in maths tests and then goes blank. The other subjects are not a problem! I am hoping Atia*'s DDs method will work for him . . . . !

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/05/2015 16:54

Hooray!!!

So glad about the kitten ?? And well done for the coursework and music exam!

GentlyBenevolent · 06/05/2015 16:27

Our missing kitten has returned!!! :) everyine is very happy. In other good news DD1 got full marks for her english coursework which can't be anything other than good, surely. And apparently the music exams were ok.

GentlyBenevolent · 06/05/2015 09:01

DD1 has grade 8 flute today. It's only her third study (already has grade 8 recorders and singing) but she still wants to do well obviously. Bit of good news though, she entered a poetry competition last term, didn't win, forgot about it - heard today she was long listed and they will be publishing her poem with the other long listed entries. So that's good, it's made her happy. She still hasn't done her timed condition sleeve notes for music though - she's ready to roll but the school keep putting it off and suggested Monday - which she feels is taking it to the wire a bit! Hopefully they will let her do it tomorrow. Problem is because she has a SpLD it's that little bit more faff for them, since she uses a computer to write.

Marni23 · 06/05/2015 08:22

Glad the Spanish went well Atia

Marni23 · 06/05/2015 08:18

That's such bad luck Hellsbells, hope she recovers quickly. DS has come down with something similar and I've virtually put him in quarantine in case he passes it on to DD. Think I'll go and get some manuka honey to dose her up with on the off-chance that it works as a preventative measure!

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/05/2015 08:01

Oh poor girl Sad Hope she feels much better soon x

Dd2 said that Spanish went pretty well, she thinks. So, phew. French speaking on Friday.

hellsbells99 · 06/05/2015 07:51

DD came home after yesterday's exam and slept for the afternoon. She is still rough this morning and has another exam at 9am - physics written EMPA paper. The exams have not started well Sad

Not quite sure where those little boxes in my last post came from!

woody it is a bit depressing isn't it? DS will wander in and say 'I got 77% in that past paper," and I say oh well done, that's good, and he looks worried and says but it's not an A . . . . it seems like nothing short of top marks will do, and that's unlikely. Where do they get all this pressure from? Glad the chemistry went well though.

MorvahRising · 05/05/2015 23:35

Atia ?? I'll just have to hope DS can pull it out of the bag in the same way!

Woody47 · 05/05/2015 18:33

Very happy with the chemistry EMPA.Good job because physics empa was not good apparently .Well 35/40 sounds good, but it isn't and will probably equate to a B sad

AtiaoftheJulii · 05/05/2015 18:27

Dd1 (y13) has been getting terrible marks in C4 past papers, but she isn't bothered - she reckons she understood it when she learnt it and a day of proper revision will sort her out. Don't know quite whether to Grin or Sad !
