Mocks this week, and the reality of AS exams in a few months is starting to hit home. I don't think it will be an easy journey, so would welcome some company.

hellsbells I may well pop over to the Y13 thread!

Dunlurking don't worry, we want to hear about open days too! Although we have postponed our visit to Exeter which was due on Saturday because DS needed to revise. We're going to go in September instead.

Dunlurking · 07/06/2015 07:59

Very sympathetic to those of you with exams still going on. I'm thinking of you.

Mentally we are switching to prospectuses, course details, open days etc. It seems tactless to start chatting about them in front of you but I shall be desperate to post about the process soon...

ancientbuchanan · 06/06/2015 23:53

I'll have to, it's really grim out here.

hellsbells99 · 06/06/2015 23:10

Actually Atia I think you are on the year 13 thread too - lots of Wine needed at this time of the year Grin

hellsbells99 · 06/06/2015 22:56

Morvah, Atia and Ancient - you will have to come over to the year 13 thread for the next 2 weeks! My DD1 is sitting C3 and C4 (plus she still has 2 chemistry and 2 biology papers). She finishes on the 17th but a couple of her friends doing further maths don't finish until the 23rd I think.

ancientbuchanan · 06/06/2015 22:34

I think so, followed by C3. But what do I know?

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/06/2015 17:49

Is that S2 ancient, or something else?

Dd2 has two this week, but is actually looking forward to going back to school on Monday and doing something new rather than endless revision!

ancientbuchanan · 06/06/2015 16:27

They will. No, here until 22/6

MorvahRising · 06/06/2015 15:09

It does seem unfair. I just hope they won't be dishing out homework on top of revision for the few who are still slogging away at exams!

DS doesn't finish til the 16th. I think I shall be the only one left on the thread!

ancientbuchanan · 06/06/2015 08:48

Hey ho, two more to go. Seems really unfair that they have to go in and start the A2 work when there are still more papers to revise for.

BernadetteMatthews · 06/06/2015 07:58

Just coming back to say thank you again for being so lovely when DD was having a really difficult time with her ASs. We are both very glad they are over and will look at the resits after the results come out!

Hopefully your DCs get the results they need Brew

hellsbells99 · 05/06/2015 17:35

I just can't believe how long we have to wait for the results now!
DD has gone off to her friends for the night for a BBQ.
I have told her she needs to look at open days and prospectus' on Sunday and get herself organised before A2 lessons start on Monday. She is having a dilemma over which subject she may drop in September - at the moment she is thinking of carrying on with all 4 and doing an extra AS....I am doing my best to talk her out of that!

MrsUltracrepidarian · 05/06/2015 17:20

I love the past paper spreadsheet thing. Shall create one for ds next year. Somehow I don't think Physics is going to progress past AS level though....
Same here!!! This thread has saved my sanity - so grateful!

hellsbells99 · 05/06/2015 15:15

S1 'okay' here too! DD2's exams are now finished.
DD1 doesn't finish until the 17th.

Dunlurking · 05/06/2015 14:51

S1 "OK" said my text from ds. He's finished now and I have no idea what he's doing with the rest of the day. There are parties......

Sorry for those with M1 and other papers still to go. Good Luck.

MorvahRising · 05/06/2015 13:40

DS reports statistics (Edexcel) as better than he thought it might be. He is currently doing a D1 paper and is then going to have the rest of the day off. It's been a really tough week with five exams.

kitties I think your DS will go a long way with those qualities. DS also procrastinates, and I feel guilty nagging him because I'm the world's worst procrastinator myself. In fact, I am currently avoiding a piece of work I ought to be doing because it's much more vital to plant out my tomatoes.

AtiaoftheJulii · 05/06/2015 12:41

dd2's last exam is on Friday :) I believe her tweet (re OITNB) went something along the lines of "praise Netflix for caring enough not to screw up my AS levels"

Needmoresleep · 05/06/2015 12:04

Again I got no real feedback on physics (OCR B, DD is the champion of obscure boards and papers - what on earth is OCR MEI maths - just as well I am not too involved, and from what some of her friends are saying she did well to avoid Edexel.)

There seems to be a real end of term feeling, especially now the Yr13s are on study leave and have essentially left. Only a year more of school.

M1 on Tuesday. I am promised she will spend the weekend doing past papers. Its her least favourite bit of maths, so I hope she does. The third series of Orange is the New Black is available next Friday so something to look forward to.

KittiesInsane · 05/06/2015 10:53

Yes, well, DS's forte is procrastination and plausible excuses rather than actual work. I think he has a future in politics.

Dunlurking · 05/06/2015 10:45

SecretSquirrels I love the past paper spreadsheet thing. Shall create one for ds next year. Somehow I don't think Physics is going to progress past AS level though....

Kitties funnily enough ds did talk about past papers when it came to Drama - to tell me that every year the same questions get asked and twisted slightly Hmm . Fortunately that turned out to be the case this year.

KittiesInsane · 05/06/2015 09:31

DS was a bit stumped for past papers as he's doing literature and performance-type subjects. Not much point practising questions about 1960s influences on the Beatles if you're studying Bertoldt Brecht. At least, that's his excuse...

SecretSquirrels · 05/06/2015 08:48

Yes they get the UMS on results day.
DS has done lots of past papers, though unlike his DB last year, he doesn't have a spreadsheet with every past paper in the history of the exam board ticked off. His teacher has also compiled some practise papers consisting only of extra hard questions. He doesn't want to do them for fear of being demoralised.

AtiaoftheJulii · 05/06/2015 07:27

DD2 is doing D1 and C3 next week (not doing FM, just spreading one Maths A level over 3 years!), and DD1 is doing C3, C4 and S2. They are both doing Edexcel - last year they both did C1 and S1 - I was worried about them comparing themselves or being competitive, but it worked out ok with each doing better in one paper Grin This year as long as they both end up with over 90 ums for C3 I think they will be relieved enough not to care what the other gets.

hellsbells99 · 05/06/2015 07:15

Thanks Dunlurking & Morvah.
DD2's last exam today, S1 Smile. Good luck all.
Morvah - DD1 is also doing C3 & C4.
