£25 including transport and a three course meal. 5.30-11pm. Think that's fab value myself! Smile

Geezer · 04/05/2013 15:30

£39 - held at a nice hotel in the city centre, 3 course meal and yearbook included.

Travel to and from the Prom, additional drinks at the bar following the initial (non alcoholic) cocktail, eyewateringly expensive dress, shoes, undies, make up, hairdo, nails, handbag and jewellery all very far from optional! Grin

Posted too soon

We could do it cheaper but the kids choose the venue and so costs vary. Everyone has to travel by coach - no limos allowed - which keeps the cost down for them, too.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 04/05/2013 09:21

£25 - includes reception, travel to venue, two course meal and disco.

We subsidise anyone who can't afford it, and have been known to buy prom dresses, pay for suit hire etc. Several girls borrow jewellery, shoes etc from staff.

BellaVita · 03/05/2013 19:28

DS1's school - £30 a ahead at the Racecourse. He doesn't want to go.

The school I work at - £0. The kids fundraise and the school put the rest. It goes on attendance and behaviour as to who gets a prom pass. I already this morning took two phone calls from worried parents that their DC were poorly and they wanted to know how it would affect the pass. Last year money was also found for a couple of prom dresses/shoes/accessories for two students who were able to go but the parents didn't have the funds for food/bills let alone dresses.

macthecatsmum · 03/05/2013 19:13

Ours is about 25 quid-but they have been fundraising. that includes a decent carvery and pudding. But the (soft)drinks are sooo expensive. (wine was worse-for us of course) The last one i went too was in the day of Big Fat G dresses and we couldnt understand where all the sellotape was coming from-until we walked in on on girls unwinding the sellotape from their thighs holding the hip flasks. Seriously, they dresses were so big they could have hidden litres of Smirnoff up there.

The £64 prom is for the leavers of an 11-16 school with no sixth form. They have to go to 6FC in the next town if they want to do A levels.

Is that the very last year of school? 17/18?

£45 here in Scotland. Meal, 2 drinks and dancing in a posh hotel.

CrowsLanding · 03/05/2013 18:22

£27 and it is in a secret location.

BackforGood · 03/05/2013 18:21

I've discovered that the "official" prom is at the end of Yr11, even where quite a few are staying on into the 6th form. It then appears that there is another, less official prom at the end of 6th form, but this is less formal as they have to pay for their own outfits and tickets. Wink

complexnumber · 03/05/2013 15:15

Are they leaving school, or expecting another at the end of Y13?

It's all so different nowadays...

HormonalHousewife · 03/05/2013 13:45

£25 and agree with MrsBartlet the dress costs a lot more !

BackforGood · 03/05/2013 13:43

ds's was last year - nice banqueting suite at a local(ish) place. No transport, but 3 course meal and dancing afterwards, and they all had a professional photo to bring away at the end of the night, included in the ticket price or £30.

MrsBartlet · 02/05/2013 21:25

£50 here for a meal at a country club type place that does weddings. That is only part of the expense though - the dress is more expensive. Very glad that the current trend seems for them all to go in a big group on a double decker bus which they hire!

Mrsrobertduvall · 02/05/2013 12:06

About £30 here..boat on Thames

iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii · 01/05/2013 21:37

My DDs is about £30 including food, drinks and fireworks. I used to be a bit 'bah humbug' about proms but my DD and all her friends are really looking forward to it. It is nice for them to have something fun to look forward to after their GCSE's.

£35 a head, but it is at a local venue with a 3 course meal and disco. Drinks will be on top each class has also had to fundraise £100 towards the costs. Dd1 and friends made cakes to sell at school and raised the money pretty quickly for their class.

We've paid for her ticket and bought her a dress. A friends mum is taking them in her nice Mercedes, a friend is doing her hair and I will do her makeup. She's paying for the shoes and bag herself.

creamteas · 01/05/2013 20:49

No Y11 prom at my DC's school either. Neither DS1 and DS2 bothered to go to their Y13 prom, they would have quite liked the party, but rejected it because they would have needed to wear a suit Grin.

I suspect neither DD nor DS3 will go either when it is their turn (both ASD and not keen on loud music/crowds etc) so I think I might have got off lightly!

summer111 · 01/05/2013 20:37

£30 including food and a soft drink on arrival. However the school are treating them to a day trip to Thorpe Park and a cinema trip too.

prettydaisies · 01/05/2013 19:15

No proms at my DCs' school for Y11. They have to wait until Y13.

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/05/2013 18:03

My prom was in the school hall.

All the dinner ladies were waitresses with little white aprons for the night. Grin

I got so pissed. None of this prom dress mullarkey though, I wore a blue lycra dress from Dorothy Perkins
