Husband sulking when I ask for a weed-free day to reconnect

Asked hubby to have a day off smoking weed so we could bond and have a clear day where I actually feel some genuine connection and he’s ignoring me all day like a child. I actually am embarrassed to admit the only time I feel liked by my husband is when he is smoking weed.

i wanted a day to connect but find myself feeling more alone because he’s got the ump.. I could cry. On top of this he wants to sleep together but I just don’t feel connected to him. He says things like well what am I meant to do if we don’t sleep together but what am I meant to do without a connection? My confidence is being affected feeling like my own husband doesn’t like me.

Any words of wisdom to break free and to not feel guilty about giving up? I start to feel sorry for him because he obviously can’t be happy
without it….

He’s addicted.
If you asked an alcoholic or smoker not to smoke/ drink for a day they might to be resentful because they are an addict. I’d be asking to stop or accepting it is who he is . If he won’t stop then you have a choice .
sulking , weed smoker…….id think hard before having children.

He would be my ex...

Not being able to make it through a day without smoking weed is really sad. Sulking like a big man baby all sat is even sadder. He could do lots of other things to relax. A walk, hike, swimming or spend some quality tkme with his wife. Please tell me you dont have children with this manbaby. My H smoked when we first met. I refused to have kids with him until he quit. Sulking because he usnt getting sex is also gross. He needs to realise that he needs to actually stimulate your mind before he gets to stimulate anything else.

Spark up a reefer and chill dude. Or tell the stupid druggie to piss off.

This is no way to live. Get out asap. His brain will be addled and will not recover even if he never smoked it again.

Sounds like you have an addict in your house. Why would you feel guilty for giving up on your husband when he has devolved into a drug addict.

autumnisherenow · Yesterday 20:06

It took me a few moments to realise your heading actually meant a day without cannabis. I thought he was a bit obsessed with the garden. Either scenario would be very odd, but at least a gardening fanatic might be spending his spare time in a productive manner.

He can help it! Why stick with a drug Addict?! Yuk.

Bananalanacake · Yesterday 20:03

How does he afford it, does he work.
Do you own the house you live in, how easy is it for you to move out.

Some posts in Relationships make me wonder what some women get out of being with their partners. They seem to have such a low bar, it’s very sad.

He's an addict, they can't just go a day without and be like a non addict. That's not how it works.

SilenceLaySteadily · Yesterday 20:00

As in, he smokes every day? That's horrific.

The way you're clashing sexually isn't uncommon, and if you're both being honest about it, neither of you is at fault for it.

But being mood-altered every day, whether it's booze or weed or whatever, means he's just going to be present.

outerspacepotato · Yesterday 19:58

His priority is weed, not you. You're there for sex and convenience.

Leave and find someone who will make you a priority.

Contain4 · Yesterday 19:55

How long have you been together?

It doesn’t sound like he likes you very much.

Stopping smoking weed if he’s used to doing every day is incredibly difficult and so he’s going to be in a bad mood over it - this means he’s an addict, not that he doesn’t like you.

But if he got in a bad mood by you just mentioning it and made no attempt to do it - then this means he just doesn’t like you much and doesn’t want to make an effort to make you happy.

Elieza · Yesterday 19:26

do not sleep with him.
ltb.
you can do better than a weed smoker who wants to use your body like a blow up doll with no consideration for your feelings.
you deserve better.

Badbadbunny · Yesterday 19:23

Why on Earth did you get involved with a weed smoker in the first place? He'll never put you first nor stop smoking weed and he's contributing to organised crime, modern slavery, etc. Get out before it's too late.

MrsTerryPratchett · Yesterday 19:22

I know a woman whose 55 yo DH still smokes every day. He's lazy, getting stupider, and always stoned. Is that what you want for your future?

Cut your losses and get out. He’s never going to prioritise you and you will become even more miserable.

I know I know. I need to get out but part of me is like oh what if he can’t help it. But you can chose to be nice. He has improved I feel he checks himself a lot when he is sarcastic like just now parcels got delivered and I asked what’s that at the door! And he’s like “what does it look like? Boxes”

You feel sorry for him ?????
Words of wisdom to break free - tell him you want a divorce - and mean it.

How old is he, 18? Instead of feeling guilt I’d be feeling absolute disgust that he can’t go one day without smoking weed to try and fix your relationship. You deserve better than a pothead. I’m very anti-drugs and I could not in any way be attracted to someone who smokes it every day. He must stink.

What’s your living situation? Any children as well? I’d be finding my anger and telling him gtfo.
