Amazing ...the frilly curtain pelmets on the little windows! The burgundy bath on the plinth! The wonderful geo carpets!!

HarpieDuJour · Yesterday 13:48

I reckon you could grow all sorts of cool plants in the pool area, and create a real jungle feel. Ther est I would leave as it is except for the carpets (espcially in the bathroom!) and some new wallpaper.

whereswilson · Yesterday 13:49

Why did it make me feel seasick tho?

PrettyLittleRose · Yesterday 13:49

I do normally like retro/1960s/1970s decor, but I'm not keen on this at all. Weird design and quite unappealing from the outside, not an attractive garden, and quite ugly decor on the inside. Some awful colours! 😬

Not for me. Nope!

Sorry @DorsetKnobBiscuit

!

MiddleAgedDread · Yesterday 13:49

that is incredible! Needs to go on "spottedonrightmove" on reddit!

Wow 😂😂
a proper time capsule, the carpeted bathroom floor with that step up bath on a plinth set up, it’s all amazing!
looks like it has really good bones, good sized rooms and a cheap buy but portishead has always been rainy when I’ve been so it’s a no from me personally!

DorsetKnobBiscuit · Yesterday 14:02

My favourite bits were the BBQ style fire in the living room and the tiny little curtains with pelmets in picture 15. I wonder if they ever climbed up there to pull those curtain?

Wowser!! I remember coloured bathroom suites. I had a "whisper grey" one. I loved it 😍

Argostoys · Yesterday 14:12

Kitchen looks ‘newer’ than the rest of the house. I’m struggling to understand what is going on in the garden.

I think it's 80% covered by a swimming pool cover.

It’s photo 6 that’s selling it to me. Who wouldn’t want that view

See, I love h tge e carpets but would change a lot of the rest. How fabulous!

SweatySpider321 · Yesterday 14:30

Could anyone else smell the damp off the pictures?!

Great views and on the face of it a good price but definitely a money pit. The swimming pool alone would be ££££ to run

I’m surprised they got permission for the pool. I would love a private pool but expensive to run.

rest of the house needs a complete refurb. The carpets made me feel disorientated

Thanks. It didn’t look very tall to me and I wondered if was cold frames for plants.

HumanIntelligence · Yesterday 14:55

I immediately wondered about planning permission for the pool house. But looks like it's been there for years so beyond enforcement procedures now.

Odd sloped plot with house built into the ground, then teh pool house roof is low (to avoid annoying the neighbours) so you'd have to watch your head coming out of the pool.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was bought for development potential into a B&B or HMO. The pool area would be repurposed into living accommodation.

A shame. The pool could be made and the roof made retractable. It's be a great party room!

It's different isn't it !
The carpet looks like sliced kiwi 🥝

I live in Bristol and know Portishead well. The views across the Bristol Channel to Wales are honestly to die for.

The distant view is nice. But the immediate surroundings are just a sea of grey tarmac. It would depress me to look at that all day and think of how nice it must have been before they tarmaced over it everything.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · Yesterday 15:49

That's amazing! So awful. I have a 1980s house (with pool) that needs updating but now I realise it's not really trying. I do have a ton of popcorn ceiling though /proud/

MyLifeInBooks · Yesterday 15:54

Love the green carpet! It's like walking on water lily leaves! 🤣

madamegazelle1 · Yesterday 16:00

This is near me- I saw it recently and was 😱😱

I thought that. Hideous.

The house is very ugly from the front too.

GlosGirl82 · Yesterday 16:04

Wow - just wow

TheLastSilverSaint · Yesterday 16:25

I genuinely love the sliced-kiwi carpet and the kitsch York stone fireplace 😁I feel like I'd keep those for an ironic retro feel.

Everything else can go, however. That blood-coloured bathroom suite is astonishing.
