Question about ctc cuts - disability element

I have 3 dc and one receives dla, I receive an additional amount in my ctc because of this. Has anything been said about this being cut? Cant find anything about it.

Also, what is the threashold for ctc cuts, have read £25k, £30k, £40k, does anyone know? and if it is as low as £25k would it be cut completely or would you still receive something albeit a smaller amount.

I think you will still get them albeit at reduced rate at some point (due to taper rates although this may be ofset by a rise in the child element). All these media reports are based on when a family with ONE child would loose their TC. With 3 kids you could get them over 30K as long as you get MORE than the family element. It's basically the Lib Dems manifesto. If it was NO TC at all don't you think the media would have had a field day wheeling out families who would loose thousands a year in one swoop?

ahh ok apparently there is to be no CTC at all for over £40k so i am talking rubbish....pretty sure that george osbourne only said the family element yesterday tho?!?

HERE it says that the amount by which TC reduces depending on your income will be increased from 6.67% to 41% and the income disregard will drop from £25,000 to £10,000 then £5,000 but doesnt give a timescale for this.
i think you should still get something but no idea how you work out what and when?

its only the £545 family element thats affected, you should still get the £2300 child element (going up by £150 for low incomes) the £2715 disabled child element and if your child is severely disabled the extra £1095 on top of that
here are the current (pre budget) HMRC rates for tax credits

Just been reading on another thread that the £40k threshold is going to reduce in a couple of years to nothing for income over £25k or £30k with one child.

I cant get my head round it. If I have 3 children (one of which gets the disability element), would we still qualify then in a few years as our income is just very slightly over £30k. Or would the whole of our ctc just stop.

Hope someone can answer this.

Lol don't ds3 is still in his pjs ,were of to Reading later for kids down south tomorrow but could not be bothered dressing him earlier then again he's quite happy

dunno what it is with ds, he's away to school in short sleeves, he feels warm even though it quite cool outside today....if i could just get him to do it the other way round and overheat in winter and stay cool in summer i'd be sorted!

Yep ds3 feels cold to as does ds1 as has raynuards he is wearing gloves indoors right now

that bad if they raise the price of it in the winter months although its the law of supply and demand i suppose, this is why the extra £200 would really benefit us too, its not just old people who need to keep warm, i need to keep the heating at around 21/22 degrees in the winter to keep ds warm at night, its ironic really as during the day and especially in the summer he overheats!

yes im trying fill oil tank while its cheap atm its 41 a litre in december january its 83 ish

Yes think thats where ir might hurt beers and fags well dont smoke and dont drink that often to be affected .But im ordering car and learning to drive fuel going to hurt .

Mind be intresting see what happens with heating allowance if they extend that for people or children with disablites

im hoping not to long it be eletrical stuff that seems break and wear out mind to now have not bothered about claiming vat on anything buy for ds linked to disablity I will now

know vat on heating going up by 1% to that will hurt.I have never ever followed oil so much .

Thats the thing glittery, ive digested it all now and it seems too good to be true for me personally, I was expecting much much worse. I dont think this is the end to be honest, I think there will be much worse to come in the next one. But I hope I'm wrong.

ahh not so good for you then yeah CB only went up 30p a week this year so over the next few years we would probably only be missing out on less than a pound a week, just hoping now the autumn budget doesnt hammer us too much

glittery trouble is ds1 and ds2 are not in children size clothes at 15 and 13 not been since they was about 10 so will be hit with vat on that.

CB freeze i kinda expected that but only few pence a year

it does look like they were true to their word about protecting the vulnerable, that the disabled and elderley wouldnt be penalised and that the higher earners would be the ones to pay....im amazed to be honest, politicians speaking the truth...whatever next!

Yes, must say am feeling much better about it. I can cope with the rise in VAT, will just tighten our belt a little and make better decisions on the weekly shop.

Wasnt expecting the ctc threshold to be £40k. And the freeze in child benefit, whilst disappointing is not a massive amount anyway.

Phew! (for me anyway).

3yr freeze on CB but that only ever goes up a few pence a week anyway so shouldnt be a worry
