am I alone in being very heartened that the alquaida operative is not being deported?

because we absolutely should not deport anyone under any circumstance who we know will be tortured.

a victory for justice and human rights today imo.

But isn't that decision in breach of MY human rights as this person has been deemed a danger to the British Public.

I do support Human rights & believe that in the vast majority of cases we should not deprt people to situations of harm BUT there has to be a balance & our government & the legal system has a duty to protect US the public too.
Whilst I don't enjoy the fact that we should support this man with our hard earned & much needed taxes he should remain in custody until someone see's sense & deports him.

so it's ok for us to sanction torturers? it's ok for us knowingly to send someone to be tortured?

what exactly separates us from the people we're villifying then?

moondog, rather in the same way that I hope to instill a sense of integrity in ds so that playground taunts wash over him, so I am not in the least bothered that britain is considered a 'pushover and laughing stock' by you. i'm not sure which nationstates agree however.

Why in heaven's name should Britain give sanctuary to terrorists?

The Foreign Office should ask assurance from the Pakistani authorities that he will not be tortured - and then deport him as soon as possible.

Why on earth should they not be deported? I find your attitudes disgraceful to be honest, you can be as tolerant as you like but but I want no part in playing host to potential mass murderers and racist idiots.

I agree that we should not deport him to be tortured. I am concerned, however, that someone who wants to kill people (including children) in this country is allowed to remain here. Is he at large or imprisoned?
