I completely disapprove of Yvette Cooper and consider her to be a malignant worm.

I don't mind the fact that she was parachuted in to a Labour seat so safe that a donkey could have won (always providing it was wearing a red rosette).

But I do mind the fact that she hardly ever sets foot in the constituency. She lives in London, her children live in London, her husband lives in London and they have nothing whatsoever to do with Yorkshire.

Indeed it could be argued that the only significance of Yorkshire to Yvette Cooper is that it entitles her and her husband to make large capital gains tax free at the taxpayer's expense.

This from Wiki:

"In May 2009, it was revealed that together with her husband they 'flipped' the designation of their second home three times in a 24-month period, despite being warned several times by expenses officials that their claims were excessive [7]. Yvette Cooper and her husband, Labour minister Ed Balls, bought a four-bed house in Stoke Newington, north London, and registered this as their second home (rather than their home in Castleford, West Yorkshire) in order to qualify for up to £44,000 a year to subsidise a reported £438,000 mortgage under the Commons Additional Costs Allowance. This is despite both spouses working in London full-time and their children attending local London schools.[8]"

A charmless couple. What price integrity, eh?

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 22:41

Leadership does wonders for male looks. Cameron started looking less odd as soon as he became leader?

Heathcliffscathy · 14/05/2010 22:39

did you SEE norman lamont on Newsnight just now??? he looks like a very old badger!

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 22:39

SpringHeeledJack re: 50's school bully hair

sophable- could you please explain the (sudden) urge to be tweeted? Is MN contact unsatisfactory?

Ewe · 14/05/2010 22:39

We could use the #YC4PM thing, start our own campaign. I think it's a shame that Harriet Harman isn't press friendly enough to be a serious contender.

Ahh, I was following you already (now following sophable too) I lose track of which username goes with which person when people use non-MN name though!

Heathcliffscathy · 14/05/2010 22:38

proles ed's face looks more (a lot more) trustworthy to me.

call me old fashioned (rocks in squeeky rocking chair sucking on pipe)

SpringHeeledJack · 14/05/2010 22:37

roffling at '50s school bully hair'

Heathcliffscathy · 14/05/2010 22:35

policy will you tweet me?

Ed doesn't always look like he's not quite managed to shave his moustache off properly.

Quattrocento · 14/05/2010 22:32

SGM - you probably should save yourself the membership fee - highly likely that a milliband will get in

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 22:32

why not start MN and Twitter threads for Yvette to reconsider!

cinnamontoast · 14/05/2010 22:30

Okay, Johann's sold her to me (though my DD hated the free fruit as much as I hated warm milk back in the day).

I don't understand why Labour didn't make use of Yvette in the campaign - surely would have been a fab asset.

Ninjacat · 14/05/2010 22:30

Sorry Soph my mistake. Bad flash back moment
