Is everyone on Twitter now?

Anyone hear Cruddas on PM this evening? He isn't running, but his reasons, imho, are exactly why he should, if that makes any sense. He doesn't like the whole 'Westminster' game and seems not to enjoy the parliamentary aspect of being a politician, preferring the grassroots activity. He made a really good point, without naming names that it didn't make much sense to suddenly abandon policies that a few weeks ago, the (Labor) government was supporting. I think the inference was that the Milibands couldn't have it both ways as far as wishing to divorce themselves from the past Labor government, and that they may not be the catalyst for change.

At least this was my take on the interview...

That book looks v.interesting. Perhaps we could do a book swap instead of us all buying a copy?

I have many many boring politics books that I would be willing to trade as a "deposit"

Heh Little did I know, when I chose this username, how much I'd get inadvertently namechecked.

Have you read Harvey then? I've just ordered that book (although apparently it won't be delivered until July )

Hello lefties. V good article in the Graun today by Aditya Charkrabortty about markets as the new religion - here. 'Nick Robinson... never makes an intelligent point when a bad jingle will do.' Heh. Interesting discussion in the comments underneath. I really do think that CiF is becoming less feral.

LOL at onebatmother's vision.

onebatmother · 18/05/2010 15:05

""The new leader will be unveiled at the start of this year?s annual conference on Saturday September 25th. "

Now having visions of H Harman pulling aside a baize curtain to reveal Ed Mil motionless, in a Greek Tunic. And those strappy sandal things.

gingercat12 · 18/05/2010 14:41

LeninGrad Interest rates will rise, otherwise the banks would be out of pocket. No chance for that.

gingercat12 · 18/05/2010 14:40

Thanks Prolesworth. We'll have a look on iplayer tonight (right after Idris Elba )

Eleison It is great, but who will run? I mean apart from the Eds and David? I have just read the Guardian article from Jon Cruddas. Wish he was standing.

Eleison · 18/05/2010 12:39

Good news I think about the longer-timescale leadership election?

gingercat12 · 18/05/2010 12:34

Were the leadership candidates on Newsnight last night? Went to bed early. My mission for yesterday was to tire DS out completely, but of course it backfired.

Wish I did not miss your discussion on poverty last night. Although remembering classes about Marxism made me feel very old indeed.

And "Grimsby's perfect for Cameron because it's all about fish". Whaaa?

onebatmother · 18/05/2010 11:49

Ah you knew what I meant. It's here - I love the laugh. And 'some Big Society guff.'
