Do the left hate the right more than the right hate the left?

I thought there was a large element of truth in it?

also see it as the logical follow on from that position. If you truly believe that all right winger are racist homophobic blah blah then you WOULD feel justified in hating them.

HumphreyCobbler, I'm reasonably informed and I think the Daily Mail is great. It breaks hugely important stories that the Telegraph doesn't touch. It broke stories on swine flu and many other important topics that the other papers steered clear of.

There's not much to gloat about though for the Tories. Five days after the election they are only just getting the deal done that will get them into government. Had they won a majority, I suspect they would have been more emphatic.

And if Lablor had won it would have been a bloody miracle and they would deserve to gloat...

Gah. If you're right-wing, you'll always see/perceive more anti-right than anti-left sentiment, and vice versa, so it's no good all tory supporters going, oh yes, I see all horrible lefties everywhere while the right are so polite (and vice versa) because people see what they want to see, what they're sentised towards seeing.

And this - this - is what pisses me off about some politics discussions - all this ya boo sucks shit. Stuff that matters gets lost in political point scoring.

I think it is the way in which the left ascribe many beliefs and ideologies to me, as a Tory voter, that are simply NOT TRUE that is most irritating tbh.

Although really informed left wing people don't tend to do this, just as informed tory voters don't read the Daily Mail etc.

Granny23 it's because Labour fear the SNP. They know that the SNP are their main opponents. In Scotland, Labour don't fear the Tories, they know that they will always beat the Tories in Scotland. Alex Salmond is a real opponent for them. It's a compliment to Salmond, how much they hate him, just as it's a compliment to Cameron that the rent-a-mob turn out to boo him on his first day of office.

The UK has become a capitalist society under Labour. Shopping and big business has flourished (until it all went tits up). The economy has boomed at the cost of families and the needs of children. I would have loved to have stayed at home to care for ds but I just couldn't afford it. Labour were all about the economy, economy, economy.

BelleDame, I care about them too, and I didn't want Labour to carry on shafting them any longer. Because the more Labour overspent, the more those people were going to ultimately end up in the shit.
