The dust has almost settled. My assessment of how the BNP performed.

Ok, they didn't make the political breakthrough I'd hoped for, but if you look at the results they are actually very encouraging.

The BNP got 563,743 votes (dispite only fighting half of all the available 650 seats)

They got 10% of the vote. That is pretty amazing for a small party, and under proportional representation those votes would result in seats.

NC will merge with someone (eventually?) and as one of his main aims is to push through PR it's all good for the BNP.

What do these results mean for the BNP ?

The tripling of the BNP vote on May 6th has some important implications.

Firstly, where they went head to head with UKIP and the Greens they thrashed them, they overtook UKIP in 178 seats, and UKIP have far more money than the BNP, and of course UKIP and the Greens are favoured by the media.

Secondly, while all minority parties were pushed to the edge by the bigger parties, the BNP's vote not only help up, but proportionally increased when compared to their June 2009 Euro election results.

The BNP are here to stay, and although the election was a disappointment in some respests, it was a clear sign that 1000's of people up and down the country support the policies of the BNP.

And let's not forget, political pundits had all but written off the Labour party after they lost the 92'election....

They went on to win 3 elections.

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 12/05/2010 14:17

over here please ladies

noddyholder · 12/05/2010 14:13

That SN thread was my first 'encounter' with DP and I was sickened by her attitude. It was ONLY posted to create upset and to insult as everyone knows MN is a haven of support and advice for parents of children with special needs. We need to ignore this crap it has gone on long enough now that the argument that 'all views are valid and debatable' has become obsolete as the attention seeking troll becomes more and more ridiculous.

TheSteelFairy2 · 12/05/2010 13:42

This is the thread about SN kids here, posted in AIBU to get maximum exposure and cause maximum upset. If you have a look you will find that DP has done exactly the same on that thread as she has done on here. Stirred up a big old nasty hornets nest, got everyone upset and is now winding things and moving things on with more neutral posts so that a. she doesn't get banned, b. We will all get pulled in again the next time she posts one of her hate filled threads and c. we will all think ah she's not that bad really.

I am Sunfleurs on that thread btw.

ConDemNation · 12/05/2010 12:57

actually watching that song makes me want to have sex with him, a lot of it.

seeker · 12/05/2010 12:57

What, Billy Bragg- that White working class champion of British culture? Just your type, I would have thought. DP!

elliemental · 12/05/2010 12:54

DP...please..

Nick Griffin makes me physically sick...he really does...he is a wanker...sorry.

ConDemNation · 12/05/2010 12:53

He's nicer than that b*stard he was arguing with, anyway.

and i love his songs. He is very very clever.

slug · 12/05/2010 12:51

MIFLAW · 12/05/2010 12:46

Probably got every Stevie Wonder song on my ipod..

Did you KNOW he was black, DP?

Have you got the one called, "Nick Griffin, What A Fucking Phallus"? May have been an album track ...

posieparker · 12/05/2010 12:44

No....oh dear. Who will pay for this election?

And don;t you think now that there will be a visible and working policy on immigration BNP will lose further votes? Afterall many people who vote BNP do so based upon the scaremongering surrounding immigration...most of those half million aren't racist, disablist or homophobes. Next election BNP will have less than 250,000 I'm going to call William Hill and find out my odds!

daftpunk · 12/05/2010 12:43

Probably got every Stevie Wonder song on my ipod..

..apart from -I just called to say I love you... cos it's crap

Have as many general elections as you like, until the BNP resort to traditional Fescist tactics of intimidating the electorate with the threat of violence or death, they will be told resolutely to fuck off every single time.

Note that Hitler's National Socialists had to resort to these tactics even in a hyperinflationary economic meltdown which makes the current "recession" look, well, a bit wimpish, really.

MIFLAW · 12/05/2010 12:39

"NG got almost 10% of the Barking vote, the highest ever for a BNP candidate..."

In other words, in what was recognised as a BNP stronghold, the BNP mustered one vote in 10.

Go, team Nick!

daftpunk · 12/05/2010 12:38

75% of people said "fuck off" to the Liberals....now they're running the country...

I think there should be another election within 12 months.

OP posts:
CatIsSleepy · 12/05/2010 12:38

BNP also lost all their council seats in barking

smallorange · 12/05/2010 12:37

How about For Once In My Life, Stevie Wonder. One of the most joyful, life affirming songs ever , written by a blind, black man.

pagwatch · 12/05/2010 12:36

I love that it is the barking vote

elliemental · 12/05/2010 12:35

amen to that PP

posieparker · 12/05/2010 12:34

90% of people said 'fuck off' to the BNP!

daftpunk · 12/05/2010 12:32

Miflaw;

10% of the overall vote, but it wasn't 10% as I have said 8000000000x

NG got almost 10% of the Barking vote, the highest ever for a BNP candidate...
