No. No outing of others here. I have namechanged cos I outed myself with someone at work.

But I may have had rather a lot to do with starting the Lefty theme

jenny60 · 10/05/2010 23:15

Put my beer and in the fridge and now at Gove's unbelievably sexist comment re Kirsty Wark. Outrageous!

Policywonk: I loved this oasis during the election, but I know what you mean. I did try to post on others and started one for pregressives, but it didn't really encourage debate about progressive politics, more of an anti-labour type of discussion which I could have found elsewhere. But maybe that was me being sensitive. Even without our lefty inclinations here, I've still found the most interesting discussions about the whys and whens and maybes here. Maybe that's because I didn't have to hear about how hideous GB was and how he was 'clinging onto power' or how 'the markets' were inssitng insisting that we vote in a certain way.

TheStraitsofWTF · 10/05/2010 23:14

Hmm - are you going to name names?

Who are/were you, Hameroonie?

policywonk · 10/05/2010 23:14

Well if you say so Quattro it must be true.

(Apple - it was all a feint. Don't you see?)

DavidHameron · 10/05/2010 23:13

I think swedes has namechanged nad perhaps has been here and there but she's so well-brought up she doesn't want to fall out with any of us publicly?

DavidHameron · 10/05/2010 23:12

Yes, looks (and sounds intelligently) marvellous. none of you were on the Portas webchat but she may yet sort us all out...

TheStraitsofWTF · 10/05/2010 23:12

Oh hell, pol, we'd snog Swedes if she turned up.

Heathcliffscathy · 10/05/2010 23:11

yeah quattro but rabid liberal is FAR FAR to the left of new labourite! as well you know

AppleTreeWick · 10/05/2010 23:11

to Pol & Pdiddy why ay thank you I'll be here all week

I have been very rude to Tories as a group but mostly under a non de guerre whilst tanking sweet sherry so it doesn't count.

And now if anyone asks questions we can point them to Pol's angst pour les autres to cover our tracks.

Cool aid anyone?

Quattrocento · 10/05/2010 23:10

It's so very you to worry about MN's image and being inclusive, Policy.

But I've been made welcome here and I am a rabid liberal, so I think you are worrying unnecessarily.

Heathcliffscathy · 10/05/2010 23:10

fark me the french finance minister is a handsome woman isn't she...why do we have a law against good looking and chic female politicians (awaits flaming for anti feminist attention to appearance...it's not anti feminist at all btw).

Ewe · 10/05/2010 23:08

animula, I recently read the Cameron book on the rise of new conservatism, it's good to look at all angles I think!

I balanced it out by purchasing a Tony Benn book and booking tickets to see him in November

so he can fail dismally to lipsynch the national anthem...

paul mason hilarious...business editor makes it all about markets...you do surprise me...where was he skitted as having huge steroid muscles?

policywonk · 10/05/2010 23:08

I love Paul Mason.

DavidHameron · 10/05/2010 23:07

I think Redwood should be offered Welsh secretary again

Fuck. Mason going on about meerkats again.

Heathcliffscathy · 10/05/2010 23:05

michael gove put it really well just now: no room for macho politics (this was when I thought he was still gay).

he is so right.

no majority, no macho posturing...SO good for all of them and for US!

Heathcliffscathy · 10/05/2010 23:05

god newsnight is like the best episode of the colbys ever! i'm gripped.

john robot redwood on....it's marvellous watching him try really hard to be conciliatory to libs....fabulous

animula · 10/05/2010 23:04

I've read his biography of Michael Portillo. It's very good.

TheStraitsofWTF · 10/05/2010 23:03

Thanks for Marina Hyde link - I was getting a bit weary of being HamShine. Think this is descriptive of my status quo anyway.

WRT lefties thread; good, I think as a place to carefully and thoughtfully dissect and think through issues and possibilities as time goes on, without having to constantly defend your position. I was carrying on discussions with claig on one thread last night, as well as on here, and while both were interesting and polite, it's easier to think more quickly and deeply here, as not having to justify and also not look like you're attacking so much here.

I do like the cross-party talks you get to have on here, so long as they don't turn into bunfights. I just don't think these need to be mutually exclusive.

MmeLindt · 10/05/2010 23:03

Meerkats = Markets

hello Jenny, btw. Overlooked you earlier, sorry. Welcome.

(not that this would ever happen in RL. DH hates crumbs in bed)

policywonk · 10/05/2010 23:03

Soph

He's probably not lurking

Heathcliffscathy · 10/05/2010 23:02

not being naughty honest...just totally totally assumed!!! fuck me.

well...he's certainly the least homophobic, that was a great article he wrote.

policywonk · 10/05/2010 23:02

My bed has got a hot spotty boy in it. Not so inviting.

Heathcliffscathy · 10/05/2010 23:01
