I am trying not to get too excited about Lib_lab coalition as it may not happen .....altho' it could be a seriously good route it may not be our best route....choices eh!

I have recovered from my love-in with Portas and am all overwhelmed by Gordon. I'm afraid I'm with hungy and Penth's pessimism now. I preferred the con-lib alliance falling into a knife war scenario. Majority will be tiny. Electorate and press will hate it.

But... at least we won't have any Tory nonsense. For a while at least.

BIWI, I remember when your DH was worried last time - I do hope it works out well for you....

Just be glad that none of you date Nick is is such a good flirt. He might still go off with Dave but could just be trying to:

i)Make Dave jealous

ii)keep his family (party) happy that he made an effort with Gordon/Labour.

I like these hung parliaments: normally losing party feels pretty shite, pretty wiped out and here we are constructing the rebirth of nuOldeLabour , to rule for a generation with the only question being what route to take. Great stuff.

Beneath all this is the the fundamental fact that Britain is largely a decent country and as soon as the centre left party (Labour in particular) proved that they were reasonable managers of public services/economy, then it became very hard for Tories to gain a majority.

I think it's all going to work out fine. I thought that last Thursday and I still think that now.

The Conservatives have been badgering talking to the lib dems for three days and still not got it in the bag and GB has imo played a very cool and statesmanlike game.

Had a peek on that thread. Was going to post but then I noticed that Thatcher was being hailed as a heroine. Really did not know what to say after that.

Dont mock the little newsplayer on the BBC election site, its a lifeline from overseas.

It was going 24/7 and now it just tunes into BBC news when something happens.

So Im pottering around in my silent house and suddenly a voice will announce that the Conservatives have ordered in pizza. (The Lib Dems had muffins).

It is reassuring to see politicians like NC, Harman, GB act in a manner that isn't purely self serving. Actually Britain is blessed with good leaders even though we like to be cynical about the lot of them...and I include DC in that...
