Pondering, and while slightly more optimistic than we once were, still really quite unhappy Lefty thread

Where had we got to? We'd agreed that we all love Cameron, right?

How long do you reckon it would take to put together a referendum on electoral reform?

I'm wondering if it's feasible to get something sorted out with a Lib/Lab coalition with a view to holding a new election with PR within say 12 months?

Obviously the murdoch press would hate the idea, but might the electorate buy it maybe? Sell it along the lines of 'no-one party can form a majority government so we're going to work together to allow the public to vote democratically within the year to elect a truly representative government' type of thing?

PfftThePinkoLeftyDragon · 08/05/2010 18:30

I love that Sky protestors video

longfingernailspaintedblue · 08/05/2010 18:29

OK - see you later! Enjoy watching your faux protest

DavidHameron · 08/05/2010 18:28

Anyway longfingernails, you can bugger off now you've made yer Burley point

Back to yer vair boring and underactive Anxious Tories thread and defending the markets against George Galloway coolfonz...

longfingernailspaintedblue · 08/05/2010 18:26

Yes, I don't mean Tory in a party loyalty way. His wife was a senior member of Tony Blair's staff - but he is basically a rightwinger who was fond of Blair - just like me really.

policywonk · 08/05/2010 18:25

Married to Anji Hunter, who used to be Blair's brain. So, almost certainly a Tory

DavidHameron · 08/05/2010 18:23

I'm surprised about Boulton: I thought he was a massive mate of all the senior Labour politicians...?

Bollocks didn't get very far

Is cbeebies again now

longfingernailspaintedblue · 08/05/2010 18:07

ITV News is much more pro-Tory than Sky.

longfingernailspaintedblue · 08/05/2010 18:07

I don't think Sky is that biased (as we were discussing on this thread)

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/politics/959539-Who-do-Channel-4-amp-ITV-support

Sky has more overtly biased presenters, both left and right though. Adam Boulton is definitely Tory, Glen O'Glaza is definitely Labour. Overall, though, and despite Murdoch, I don't see its coverage as leaning more one way than the other.

Every night on the paper review they always have one leftie and one rightie - not always the case at the BBC.

ImSoNotTelling · 08/05/2010 18:04

Just put sky news on to see what the fuss is about

DavidHameron · 08/05/2010 18:04

I saw Kay Burley interview one of the demo-ers.
She was appallingly biased. I know it's Sky and they don't care but really truly bad journalism. Paxo is allowed because we know he does it to everyone.

DavidHameron · 08/05/2010 18:03

someone mention me?

Hassled · 08/05/2010 17:59

I feel robbed - I know nothing of Kay Burley. I'm going to have start watching Sky News just for the entertainment value.

Justa - glad DS3 is OK. Mr Justa is being very resilient with his chip-making; my DH lay on the sofa wincing in a martyred way for what felt like months after his de-bagging.

Sorry to invade on private grief, but in this era of coalitions and consensus, I think if there is one thing leftwingers and rightwingers can agree on, it is that Kay Burley is terrible.

She is utterly stupid and vacuous.

MrJustAbout · 08/05/2010 17:47

... and a few mushrooms and fish fingers.
