The good thing on MN is you can guarantee 90% of other posters are reading the worst posts open-mouthed too.

In a weird kind of way, I think hateful homophobic/racist/whateverist posts can actually be politically quite good for people.

It's easy to live in a polite modern bubble and lose touch with the reality of what a certain % of people are saying. It's when I read posts like Daftpunk's that I feel at my reddest and most liberal. If outrage at her posts persuades just two people to get off their sofa and vote against the BNP then she's done good - cancelled out her vote and one more to boot

Not that that makes the posts acceptable or nice reading. I just think she probably does more for the left in one single thread than 5000 depressed lefty posts.

Quick iPhone lurk and post while DH is at the Boulangerie buying rolls and brioche. Mothers Day here today so celebratory breakfast. DC in cellar making cards I think.

I like the idea of ID cards, Germany and CH get along fine with them, but from what I have read of the UK plans, they are too expensive & too far reaching. It is handy here to have a small wallet sized document with which I can prove my identity without having to resort to old bills. DH could not believe when we went to get a video card that this was the way we should identify ourselves.

pmsl justabout. DH got an infection - a couple of days is normal, IIRC.
A friend's brother went into work the same afternoon and fainted in the middle of a meeting.
Right, breakfast then Andrew Marr. Hope Eric Pickles is still asleep - everything I could have thrown at him is already behind the TV after Thursday night.

Justabout, DH was sore for a week after. I can't help thinking brown bread and fruit for breakfast would have put his recovery back somewhat. Haven't you got any Angel Delight?
I suppose the fact that I'm off to crack open a packet of brioche puts paid to any blue-collar credentials I may claim. A bientot...(chuckles)

I voted Labour until the Iraq war, but I was angry with Tony Blair - he gives me the creeps/reminds me a lot of DC. I grew up with my parents taking me on CND marches. I think my parents could never vote Tory but I cannot agree with them most of the time re politics (they seem very xenophobic to me sadly).

I voted to keep the Tory MP out, that meant voting SNP - I really like Alex Salmond, but I am not so sure of our local SNP MP.
