Elections to the Scottish Parliament are already conduction under PR - which is why no party has ever had an overall majority.

SNP MPs DO NOT VOTE on issues which are England only (unless there is a knock on effect on Scotland). This is perfectly proper but does leave them open to accusations of a poor voting record as loads of Westminster bills are England or England & Wales only.

HBOS - is not a 'Scottish' bank, the clue is in the name! Bank of Scotland is not the equivalent of Bank of England. Bank of England is actually the BANK OF THE UK with regulatory functions; Bank of Scotland is a subsidiary of Halifax, with a branch network like any other high street bank.

I think it is inappropriate that Welsh and Scots MP's can vote for UK laws but that English MP's cannot vote for Scottish and (to a lesser exent because the Assembly has less power) Welsh Laws.

At present Labour in Wales puts money into the labour dominated councils and diverts money away from Liberal rural councils, so when Labour supporters talk about Tory cuts they need to realise that Labour are just as guilty of directing funds to their own supporters and simply don't give a monkies about rural poverty issues resulting in genuine hardship especially for the most vulnerable groups.

Of course, if they were elected to the Scottish Parliament!!

I am simply stating that those who are not affected 100% by central government's decisions should not have the same weighting in a general election.
And the point of showing all the figures was to point out how much worse off Labour voters in Scotland and Wales would be under PR. If PR happened, you wouldn't merely have 'projecting of Conservative values', it would be an enforcement by your own voters.

Inb total, 10.7m people voted Con, 15.4m voted for one of the two progressive parties.

Knocking off Madge5's figures above gives 13m progressive in England, 9.9m Con.

We need electoral reform but not of the PR type. Scotland and Wales cannot potentially be allowed to choose the PM and government of this country when they have opted out of the many issues at the heart of the election including health, education, justice, rural affairs, and transport. They are laughing all the way to their benefits. The seats/votes should be weighted so those of us who are affected 100% by the policies have a greater say.
But, if we are to go for PR, we should start with testing it in Scotland and Wales. In Scotland Labour got 1,035,528 votes and 46seats, LD 465,471 and 11 seats and Cons 412,855 and 1 seat. In Wales the figures were Labour 531,601 votes and 26 seats, LD 295,164 votes and 3 seats and Cons 382,730 votes and 8 seats.
