DUP have 168,000 to Sinn Feins 150,000 votes, but 8 seats over just 4 (so far). I can see an arguement for this proportional stuff

Morning guys, sorry I crashed out about 3am. Well, this wasn't supposed to happen! A hung parliament with no clear lib/lab coalition! We will be doing it all again in a couple of months, particularly with voting irregularities. Why do people lie in polls? I just don't get it.

The seat in Fermanagh South Tyrone is very close, two votes in it.

Sinn Fein cannot be in government because they won't sit because they refuse to swear the oath of allegiance.

SomeGuy - I agree with your numbers. It all hangs on which way the minority parties jump. With 323 the Tory/DUP parties could form a goverment.

If Cameron gets in then he could quickly reform the constitution so only English MPs vote on English issues and the Scottish, Welsh and NI parliaments would get more powers to vote on thir own isuses. he has said he wants to do that. It would gain Cameron the support of the minority parties and give him a natural majority on English voting issues at Westminster. He may have to do a sort of coalition for any votes on Britsh issues such as the future of the nuclear deterant but taxation an spending would be the key issues and the minority parties will flex their muscles there.

Personally, I would like to see Nick Clegg and perhaps a few other Lib Dem MPs get seats in the wider cabinet too.

My DH is joining the RAF, still believe in their cause, not the means obviously. Cannot believe it's down to 2/8 votes!

Depends which areas they were. If they were really significant we could see a re-election...

The parties would be well advised to watch how they comport themselves until it's decided.

anywhere where votes h ave been lost and the result is close, there is a high chance of legal challenges

where i am, the tories won on a majority of 900. So a recount in many areas not surprising. How gutting for those areas that have lost hundreds of votes due to late voters. Really could have made the difference

There is abolsutely NO WAY conservatives can take power on that little majority, they do not have absolute majority over all other parties.

Is it more likely a re-election or coalition?

Sinn Fein: 4
Plaid: 3
SDLP: 3
Green: 1
Alliance: 1
Speaker: 1

324 needed for victory

So Tories plus unionists = 323, versus 323 for all other parties.....

Seems to mean another election in a few months time.
